Women and children across India have been succumbing to a fatigue virus that causes extreme tiredness which leads to deep sleep, coma and death.
The symptoms are consistent with normal feelings of wearyness following a period of exertion that promote a desire to rest and sleep. Resistance to that impulse, in a person unaffected by the fatigue virus, normally results in a second wind of energy and refreshment. But for those who have been infected, resistance turns wearyness into exhaustion and physical collapse.
Once the patient goes into a deep sleep, it’s impossible to rouse them no matter how shocking or painful the stimulus used may be.
Within the hour, the patient migrates from deep sleep into an unrecoverable coma which is swiftly followed by the shut-down of all life support functions causing the patient to die.
People most at risk from the fatigue virus are those heavily affected by negative stress that typically produce despondency, hopelessness, despair and depression.
The fatigue virus has been likened to a kind of safety valve that mitigates the suffering of a person whose coping mechanisms have been overwhelmed.
A strong, healthy immune system easily combats the virus. But, once acquired, there is no effective medical response to the deadly effects of the virus.
Experts strongly recommend prevention as the safest and easiest way to combat this threat by swiftly turning around the lives of any person most at risk from this infection.
One example was an autocratic father who terrorised his wife and children with constant beratement, beatings and intimidation. One evening he returned home to find them sprawled over the floor, dead. The fatigue virus had found ideal conditions for its growth and outcome.
The virus is transmitted by touch and air borne, yet is completely ineffective when confronted by a robust healthy, unencumbered immune system.
Some euthenasia groups have been criticised for their attempts to isolate the virus and give it to terminally ill patients who have requested it. The logic of their position is that nature has provided a means to humanely end the suffering of the terminally ill without drugs.
The transmission and incubation characteristics of the fatigue virus are entirely consistent with the ebola virus.
The fatigue virus should not be confused with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) which is primarily a psychosis-based symptom that has no viral component.
The medical community have found the fatigue virus notoriously difficult to isolate, study and treat. Therefore, few resources have been expended to promote further investigation.
Cases discovered in the US and other Western countries have frequently gone unreported or simply been mis-diagnosed because of pre-existing conditions. But there is far greater prevalence for this infection in third world countries because of the increased stresses from wars, grinding poverty and chronic abuse.
The CDC have not felt it necessary to issue any warnings or guidance on this issue due to lack of empirical research and the benign effects on otherwise healthy people.
