We all want to live a healthy life. With the latest lifestyle news out there, you are sure to find helpful lifestyle changes for you and your family. Some you should take seriously, while others are just fads or current super diets. With all the necessary lifestyle changes out there for you to follow for better health, these are the top 5 that I have assembled. No fads, or quick fixes, just changes to be healthy.

1. Exercise
This is a lifestyle change everyone needs to make. I cannot stress enough what it can do for you. When not able to work, I hit the gym. It lowers my stress level and helps me focus on what is truly important: my health. You do not need to run a 5K each morning for it to be considered exercise, you just need to move.

When I used to practice yoga, this shop I used to go for mats and other equipment had a saying along the lines of that you should sweat every day. In order to sweat you need to get your heart rate up. Getting your heart rate up will lower your blood pressure and you will also speed up your metabolism.

Exercise is not only number one on my list for necessary lifestyle changes, but it is on many others as well. Go to your local gym and purchase a membership. You will be glad you did.

2. Strive for 5
We have all seen the campaign for your 5 daily servings of fruits and vegetables a day. Most do not meet these requirements. You should be having more vegetables than fruit due to the amount of sugar in some fruits. If you are looking for an easy way to get your fruit and vegetable intake, make a salad, which includes lettuce, tomatoes (which are a fruit!), peppers, radishes and cucumbers. Toss with olive oil and red wine vinegar and you just ate your 5 savings of fruits and vegetables.

Do not stop there. For breakfast have fruit and Greek yogurt and for dinner have broccoli or green beans on the side of your protein. For extra iron swap lettuce for spinach. You will be happy you did. It tastes great.

3. Gluten Free
The debate is still out on this one. If you have celiac disease, then avoid gluten at all costs. If you do not have celiac disease, then perhaps eat foods that are less processed. There is plenty of gluten free food that we can eat. Instead of having bread or pasta as a side, have a baked sweet potato. I cut mine in half-length wise, put olive oil and sprinkle some cinnamon and wrap them in aluminium foil and bake in the oven until soft. They go great with poultry, fish, pork or red meat. I promise, you will be eating more of these than bread or pasta after a while.

4. Water
I have two roommates. When you live with people, you notice their habits right away even if you were friends first. I have always been a water person and I drink about 2 litres a day. I have noticed the only time my roommates drink water is in their tea or juice. Some claim they do not like the flavour of water, but water has no taste. If you think this, add some lemon or cucumber to your water. It gives it a nice flavour without the added sugar or caffeine. Many water bottles have diffusers where you can add fruit or cucumbers to your water. If you think about it you are also receiving more vitamins that way too.

Stay away from sodas. If you need flavour then just add cucumber or lemon. Aim for 64 ounces a day. It fights off cravings and helps to keep you full.

5. Sleep
Who does not love sleep? If only our lives allowed for more of it. As adults we need around 8 hours to function properly. You hear of politicians, entrepreneurs, celebrities and other rich folks who claim to sleep only 4 hours. This increases the chances of burning out and increases your chances of falling ill. You are recommended 8 hours for a reason.

If you are a parent it is important to get a sleep schedule down because you are of no use to yurt children if you do not. Be in bed by 11pm so you can be awake by 7am to get your kids up and ready.

There are numerous other lifestyle changes according to latest lifestyle news people should make, but these are the necessary top 5. Eat fight, sleep right and hydrate right and you will be looking at a healthier lifestyle for you and your family.
