4 Natural Remedies for Pain

When someone experiences pain, it is incredibly easy for them to take an over-the-counter drug to deal with it. Ibuprofen, aspirin, and naproxen are just some examples of analgesic medicine that you can buy at the nearest drugstore. These so-called OTC drugs are good only for short-term usage. The continued used of these medications can actually have long-term side effects on our body. It can affect and deteriorate your health if you are not careful.

Recent studies showed that prolonged use of these can cause intestinal damage, liver failure, and other side effects. They can also damage your heart with regular use, increasing the risk of heart attack and stroke. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the United States even issued warnings about the side effects of these drugs.

There are many alternatives one can use when dealing with body pain. Are you wary of the health risks mentioned above? Try these natural remedies instead:

1.      Hot or Cold Compresses

This is the most widely used natural analgesic, especially for sports-related injuries. Use a warm or cold compress in the treatment of acute injuries like ankle sprain and other pain brought about by injuries from sports activities. Apply heat to your sore muscles, joint pains, and other chronic injuries as it raises circulation and skin temperature. The hot or cold compression will reduce the blood flow to an injury, thus keeping the swelling and inflammation down.

2.      Herbal Pain Killers

Our beloved environmentally actually contains many herbs and spices that can help in the treatment of pain and inflammation. This plant-based medicine contains healing properties that are just as effective as the other natural remedies. A good example is turmeric since it has the compound called curcumin that provides inflammation and pain relief to people with osteoarthritis. The willow bark contains salicin, which relieves headaches, lower back pain, and osteoarthritis.

Ginger is also full of excellent anti-inflammatory properties that can help people dealing with arthritis. Another alternative for people who wish to manage their chronic pain and enhance their overall well-being is to buy Kratom products. Kratom is available in different forms such as powder, extracts, and pills.

3.      Acupuncture

Many people are not familiar with this treatment because it is not based on scientific experiments and research. This treatment is a form of alternative medicine that has long been a part of traditional Chinese medicine procedures. Here, experts insert thin needles into the patient’s body to treat all sorts of pain. At present, this form of alternative medicine has been used in many parts of the United States to help cure pain, drug and alcohol addiction, and other similar conditions.

It is also being used by some practitioners to treat asthma, arthritis, and headaches. Apart from these, acupuncture has also been used in combination with different forms of treatment to combat diseases. To avoid complications and promote safety, acupuncture should generally only be done by well-trained and qualified practitioners and doctors. Don’t forget to check that the needles are clean and single-use only.

4.      Cryotherapy

Also called cold therapy, this treatment uses cold or low temperatures to perform medical therapy. Many athletes and celebrities like Lebron James and Demi Moore have sworn to the effectivity of this form of therapy to treat their body pains. In this treatment, the patient is placed inside a cold chamber filled with super-chilled air for about three minutes. The temperature usually ranges from negative 150 degrees Fahrenheit up to negative 290 degrees Fahrenheit.

There are also simpler forms of cryotherapy that are less costly. You can try it by applying ice packs to the affected areas and the submerging your body in ice baths. This form of medical therapy is usually effective in dealing with muscle pain and sprains. It can also relieve swelling after soft tissue damage.

Conclusion

There are many natural ways to ease body and muscle pain aside from buying OTC drugs. Moreover, these treatments generally do not come with side effects. The best way to take these natural remedies is to follow the proper guidelines so make sure to do as instructed by the practitioner and the directions. While you are at it, do not forget to consult your doctor to avoid any problems!

to get vicodin at an emergency room these days, you have to come in with a double compound fracture & screaming with pain. They will still discuss the matter with you between your screaming fits to convince you that it would be better if this all somehow healed naturally.
