Top 7 Natural Supplements to Boost Your Pineal Gland Function (Video)

by N.Morgan

The pineal gland is the primary endocrine organ that secretes hormones, such as melatonin, and controls the circadian rhythms. The decrease in pineal gland volume and pineal calcification leads to the reduction of melatonin production.

It is also known as “Third eye.” “Seat of the soul.” “God organ.” It’s located on forehead, between your eyebrows, and often associated with spirituality, religion, happiness, meditation and yoga. Many early religions and cultures considered it the path to conscious awakening. Christianity, which came later, also embraced and included symbols of its reverence.

Seventeenth century French philosopher and scientist Rene Descartes dubbed it “the seat of the soul”. Nineteenth century Russian philosopher and occultist/ spiritualist Helena Blavatsky, known simply as Madame Blavatsky, coined the term “third eye”. But what is the pineal gland really? What is its true function? Can pineal gland supplements help?

What Functions do the Pineal Gland Affect?

What crucial hormones do the pineal gland produce? As part of the endocrine system, it is responsible for the production and regulation of hormones that help the body function at its best. An example is melatonin, which regulates our circadian rhythms or sleep patterns.

The pineal gland produces the hormone at night, while we are sleeping. It converts serotonin, the chemical responsible for our happy, conscious state, into melatonin. Light or daylight seems to have the reverse effect- slowing down the conversion. If melatonin levels in the body are low, the length and quality of our sleep will be affected. Insomnia patients are good examples of this. Research suggest that melatonin may also affect a woman’s menstrual or fertility cycle, puberty, and patients with heart and blood pressure issues.

What happens when the pineal gland works inefficiently? And how do we make it work better?

When the Pineal Gland is Impaired

How does a damaged pineal gland affect our body? One study looked at the function of an irregular sized pineal gland in conjunction with mood disorders, in particular, schizophrenia. Those patients as well as bipolar individuals and people suffering from depression seem to have a much smaller gland.

If this endocrine gland is damaged, it could also result in certain cancers as evidenced by research on over-exposure to light, especially at night.

Overall an impaired or damaged pineal gland will impact the hormones and chemicals it makes and regulates, causing imbalances that will affect functions the body needs to perform to be at its physical and mental best.

Boosting Pineal Gland Function

How can we stimulate the pineal gland? Whether you want to boost pineal gland function for spiritual or physical reasons, researchers suggest detoxification and proper nutrition. Poor, pesticide- herbicide-laden foods, environmental toxins and life’s daily stresses cause organs, joints, arteries and the pineal gland to harden or calcify.

Calcium phosphate crystals deposits from toxins like chlorine and fluoride (from water we drink and toothpaste with which we brush our teeth) for instance, build up and eventually become a hardened shell, which cannot be penetrated by our immune system. Those body tissues become vulnerable, begin to function improperly, or stop working altogether. So how do we boost our “third eye,” “seat of the soul,” “God organ?”

The recommendation is we detoxify the pineal gland then begin to consume a healthier diet and reduce daily stress.

Luckily, many of the same foods and supplements do both. Below is a list of seven top supplements that may help boost your pineal gland function. No medical evidence supports any of these as having the ability to treat or cure diseases.

Always consult your healthcare provider for diagnoses, accurate medical information and permission before taking any supplements.

1. Apple Cider Vinegar

How does apple cider vinegar detoxify and strengthen the pineal gland? Researchers believe that raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar have excellent potential as a heavy metal detoxifier. Malic acid, one of its constituents, binds with metals, including mercury and fluoride, for easy removal from the body. Additionally, raw apple cider contains vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that may help lower blood pressure, balance glucose levels, support good digestion, and support the body’s overall health and wellness.

2. Boron/ Borax

Boron is an important trace mineral. It strengthens bones and muscles, promotes cellular growth, protects against yeast infections, removes metals and other undesirable compounds from the body. Since fluoride is one of the major causes of pineal gland malfunction, boron may help protect it by ridding the body of this harmful metal. Food and supplements containing boron or boric acid include beets/ beet root extract, bananas/ banana powder, dates and avocados.

3. Iodine

Can iodine boost the pineal gland to improve sleep? Researchers believe it can. Iodine has powerful detoxifying or chelating potential. Lead, mercury, aluminum, fluoride all calcify the pineal gland and prevent it from performing it functions, which include regulating our sleep via melatonin production. Normal iodine levels may reverse and repair damage from these heavy metals. Iodine also seems able to strengthen the immune system and increase the blood’s nitric oxide levels through vasodilation.

Green foods (foods rich in chlorophyll) and supplements containing iodine include sea and algae-type vegetables: kelp/ kelp extract, chlorellaspirulina, and wheatgrass. Be aware that iodine could also lower the body’s calcium levels. To prevent this, health professionals suggest consuming plenty of calcium-rich foods such as broccoli, leafy greens, almonds and flax when taking iodine supplements.

4. Turmeric

This root spice has an active ingredient called curcumin, which has the potential to reverse or prevent fluoride and other metals from damaging the pineal gland and causing it to function improperly. Combined with its powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties (preventing free radical cell damage), turmeric may also inhibit oxidative stress.

5. Raw Cacao

The chocolate food is so packed with antioxidant flavonoids, that scientists believe it has strong potential for detoxification and stimulation. Additionally, it may reduce blood pressure and widen blood vessels to increase the flow of blood and oxygen by increasing the levels of nitric oxide. These properties act in concert to strengthen the pineal gland and stimulate function. Cacao also has a compound called beta-phenylethylamine (PEA), which triggers the pineal gland to increase levels of the neurotransmitter “happiness serum”.

6. Chaga Mushrooms

Called the “Diamond of the Forest” and “the Gift of God,” chaga mushrooms have rich pools of antioxidants that are beneficial to our body, including our endocrine (hormonal) and immune systems. The Northern Hemisphere-native fungi, which also have antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties, may boost the function of the pineal gland.

7. Oregano Oil

Researchers claim that oregano oil has the potential to protect the pineal gland from bacterial or microbial calcification. It’s a superb chelator and healer, which also enhances our immune and endocrine systems.

Warnings & Safety Precautions

Consuming these seven supplements or foods to boost your pineal gland function may be generally safe, but there could also be side effects. Individuals may be allergic to one or more of their nutrients. Symptoms could include nausea, stomach pain and discomfort, skin rashes, swollen or inflamed tongue and lips and even life-threatening anaphylaxis.

The supplements could also be unsafe when used in conjunction with medications. Always consult your healthcare provider for diagnoses, accurate medical information and permission before taking any supplements.

Bottom Line

The pineal gland is a vital part of our body. Without even knowing of its connection to our endocrine system, early cultures and religions believed it to be a path to enlightenment and healing. They called it the “third eye,” “seat of the soul,” “God organ.” The small, cone-shaped gland, sitting between the brain’s two hemispheres is responsible for producing hormones and chemicals such as melatonin, which affect our sleep patterns, circadian rhythms, balanced moods, puberty, and other important functions. A damaged or impaired pineal gland could result in mental and physical issues, including schizophrenia and cancer.

Damage often occurs from calcification due to exposure to heavy metals, poor diets, and stress. When this happens, our immune system can no longer offer aid.

So how can we boost the pineal gland for optimal function? These top seven supplements: apple cider vinegar, boron/ borax, iodine, turmeric, raw cacao, chaga mushroom and oregano oil have the potential to detoxify or decalcify, strengthen and stimulate the pineal gland to work better. Keeping in mind possible side effects, always consult your healthcare provider for diagnoses, accurate medical information and permission before taking any supplements.
