Early Covid Pandemic Statistics Show Significant Drop in Suicide

The Covid pandemic has been difficult for everyone. It has affected almost every aspect of how we live our lives.  It has caused financial and emotional hardship for millions in the United States. Because of the financial and emotional hardships, social distancing, Increased calls to the suicide hotlines, and many other factors, everyone expected that we would see an increase in suicides. When I say everyone, I mean among so-called experts, including myself, I do not believe there was one dissenting voice. There were hundreds of stories in the media during the early months warning of a serious increase in suicides.

It is too early for all states to have compiled and reported the statistics for the number of suicides in their states. So far I have found 14 states that have published the statistics for all or part of the year. On average those states show a significant decrease in the number of suicides.
