Warning Signs That Someone May Be Thinking of Suicide

You may ask, “Why should I know the warning signs of suicide”. The simple answer is that you most likely know someone who is thinking of suicide. A 2015 research study showed that 4% of all adults suffered with serious thoughts of suicide. The numbers are worse for teens. A 2019 study found that over 18% of high school students had serious thoughts about suicide and 8.9% had attempted suicide that year.

The rate of suicide, suicide attempts, and suicidal thoughts go up astronomically for certain groups such as

• Those who suffer any form of mental illness, including depression and anxiety.
• Those who have suffered a traumatic life event.
• Those who suffer from any chronic health issue
• Those who are over 65 years old.
