Gates, Buffet generate massive profits from childhood obesity epidemic

(NaturalHealth365)  Oh, what a tangled web we weave!  And when it comes to the soaring childhood obesity rate and two of the richest men in the world, Warren Buffet and Bill Gates, the web is very tangled indeed.

While parents, doctors, and researchers are battling childhood obesity to protect kids worldwide from tragic chronic diseases like cardiovascular disease, cancer and diabetes, Buffet, and Gates are lining their pockets with the profits from the evils causing the problem.

Uncovering the disturbing factors driving the surge in childhood obesity rates in the United States

In the past three decades, childhood obesity rates in the United States have tripled.  According to a report by the World Obesity Federation, childhood obesity is expected to double between 2020 and 2035.  Rates among girls are expected to more than double, while rates among boys are expected to double.  The increase occurs faster in children than it is in adults.

One report published in The Hill gave several potential reasons for this alarming increase in obesity among children: sedentary lifestyles, lack of access to healthy food, excessive screen time, socioeconomic factors, and increased regular consumption of highly processed foods.  In addition, studies show that infants and children exposed to endocrine-disrupting chemicals are at an increased risk of obesity.  Pesticides, BPAs, nicotine, and arsenic are among the major culprits.

What is not as well publicized is that high fructose corn syrup (HFCS), which is a primary component in the majority of highly processed foods – and a key player in the rapidly rising childhood obesity rates also makes some of the wealthiest men in the world a whole lot wealthier.

This is where the web gets really tangled.

The HFCS industry has been very kind to billionaires Bill Gates and Warren Buffet, generating huge profits for them both.  Here’s where the rabbit hole takes some twists and turns – but it doesn’t make the truth any less real or the hypocrisy any less disturbing.

The wealth that made Warren Buffet the fifth richest person in the world comes from investments in a company called Berkshire Hathaway.  Buffet has been the chairman and CEO of the multinational conglomerate since 1970.  And what companies does Berkshire Hathaway own large portions of?

You might recognize a few names:

• Occidental Petroleum
• Monsanto
• Chevron
• Merck
• McDonald’s
• Coca-Cola
• Heinz/Kraft Foods
• Mondelez International (makes Oreo cookies, Triscuit crackers, Cadbury chocolate, and more)

This is just a partial list, but it is enough to implicate Buffet in the growing problem of global childhood obesity.

Gates is only slightly more removed – in appearance only.  The bulk of his wealth is held in the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, of which Berkshire Hathaway is its largest holding.

So, when Berkshire Hathaway profits, Gates profits.

And then there’s the farmland

Both Warren and Gates have acquired massive plots of farmland throughout the United States.  Over the past few years, Gates has added around 242,000 acres of land throughout the United States, most of it U.S. farmland.

Buffet owns several thousand acres of farmland in the U.S. and in South Africa.  Three are research farms that the foundation operates.

While all this is happening in the background, the media is painting these billionaires as pillars of the community, benevolent stewards of society, thought leaders, and geniuses who work to make the world a better place.

But it’s all smoke and mirrors.

The foundation “generously” gave more than $250 million in 2020 to NBC, BBC, The Guardian, The Atlantic, and other news organizations to “support” struggling media amid a collapse in funding.  All they wanted in return was good PR.  Cover the issues that they wanted, and the money keeps flowing.

And what does this mean?  There is a vast disparity between what you see (what you are shown) and what you don’t see (what is hidden from you).  While billionaires such as Gates and Buffet are heralded for dumping millions into public health initiatives, they are quietly destroying our food system and supporting companies that are feeding the childhood obesity epidemic – ironically destroying public health in the process.

And those who call them out are demonized and called “conspiracy theorists.”

The truth has a way of finding the light, though, and becoming known.  They can’t hide forever.
