Though cancer is the disastrous health disorder often labeled as an ‘incurable’ disease, while carrying the spirit of defeating it, people try to find out effective ways to prevent and cure the cancer disease. Many especially include Indian Spices like turmeric and saffron into the diet, which have inherent medicinal properties that could block the multiplication of malignant cells in the body, and prevent invasion of toxins, virus, and bacteria into the body, according to the clinical nutritionists.

Here we discuss the goodness of Indian Spices which have cancer-fighting properties, and the need to include these spices into our diet to prevent cancer, in the words of Senior Surgical Oncologist, Dr. B. Niranjan Naik, and Senior Clinical Nutritionists, Dr. Shipra Salkani Mishra and Dr. Fortis La Femme, who explained in detail the necessity of Indian Spices for the prevention of cancer.

Indian Spices that prevent cancer include phytonutrients, antioxidants, and major constituent known as ‘anethole,’ found in fennel, that blocks and resists the invasive and adhesive activities of cancer cells. It also blocks enzymatic-regulated activities of cancer cells’ multiplication, thereby preventing cancer disease. Tomato-fennel soup with garlic or fresh salads is an ideal drink to prevent cancer, as per nutritionists. The powerful polyphenol known as curcumin, found in turmeric, had been proved clinically that it stops the growth of cancer cells that cause prostate cancer, melanoma, leukemia, brain tumor, and pancreatic cancer, and promotes “apoptosis” (causing cancer cell suicide or programmed cell death) without causing any harm to the surrounding healthy cells.

Cumin seeds help in digestion and provide various health benefits. Cumin seeds have anti-oxidant properties and the presence of a compound known as “thymoquinone,” which checks the multiplication of cancer cells that cause prostate cancer. The natural carotenoid dicarboxylic acid known as “crocetin” found in saffron fights progression of cancer disease and reduces cancer tumors. Saffron could be used in different ways in the diet.
