What the Ever Living F&*k Is Happening? 4 Year Old Is Allowed Gender Reassignment

Now, if you inhabit a world where everything is warm and fuzzy and you believe in total freedom for everyone regardless of age read no further. If you think that children have the right to express themselves in any way shape or form…read no further. If you are a follower of political correctness in all its forms, again DO NOT READ ON because I’m about to rant.

A four year old Australian child is to have a sex change, sorry, gender re-assignment. WTF? The article states:

A four-year-old who identifies as transgender has begun to transition before their first day at school, hoping to complete the full transformation by 2017.

This is a baba, a tot who isn’t even at school yet, what the hell does this kid know about living in the wrong body? What is wrong with it’s parents that they would even consider such a thing?

Being transsexual hurts. So be as sure as you can be before you begin transition. Only you can decide if transition is for you; no authority can do this for you, or tell you what you are. Be very honest with yourself.

Does that sound like something a four year old could accomplish? To quote from the above, just so we all are clear on this:

At four years old a kid has realised that mommy and daddy are assembled differently, dad has dangly bits and mom has boobs. I find it totally unbelievable that a child of that age has the understanding to sit down and have a meaningful discussion about being trapped in the wrong body and wishing to change sex.

I have kids of both sexes and remember well my seven year old boy running around like a loon in his sisters bridesmaid dress and a full face of make-up. We called him Lucinda for a couple of hours and then he was back to football and action figures. Now this isn’t saying that all kids would have a transient couple of hours and be done with it and yes his dad was a touch concerned, it was 30 years ago and society was less liberal back then, but no way would I have considered even in those unenlightened times that there was a problem.

I am seriously hoping that the report was a spoof, a set up to see how many enraged people started yelling about it, a chance to increase views. I am hoping I was taken-in and this is a crock of shit, a non-story.

If it isn’t then I am indeed enraged.

• A child of four has not got the verbal reasoning to talk to their parents, carers, doctors and psychiatrists about the possibility that they are transgender.
• They don’t have the level of maturity to understand the implications of making such a decision.
• They don’t have enough knowledge of biology to understand that this will impose certain physical restraints on them…for example a male to female sex-change does not involve a womb transplant and therefore motherhood is not an option. Female to male surgery can result in the male becoming pregnant if the womb and/or ovaries were retained.
• They cannot possibly comprehend what living as the opposite sex will be like as they get older. They are children, dress most of the kids on the planet in the opposite gender clothes and call them by a gender specific name and few people would know that he/she was in fact a girl/boy.
• What in Gods name are the parents thinking? How could you make the decision to start talking to doctors about a sex-change for your four year old? Did they want a kid of the opposite sex and thought this was as good a way as any? Do they want to sell the story? What?
• How could these parents possibly know that little Joey/Joanna won’t change their mind half way through the treatment? How can they know it’s not a phase that will pass just like any other phase kids go through?
• How could you agree to sign your child up for what is in effect genital mutilation when they are just four years old?
• How have the psychiatrists and medics overcome the problems of explaining such radical surgery and lifestyle changes to a child who isn’t even in school yet?

The report says that there are ‘a number of children’ awaiting consultations for body dysmorphia, will all of these children hope to fully transform, transition and also end up having the same gender reassignment surgery? Even the name reassignment is irritating, it implies you were assigned a sex at birth…like you are assigned a task at school. It’s crap. Let’s call it what it is. A SEX CHANGE.

Children are what nature intended them to be at birth. Sometimes this doesn’t quite work out either due to hermaphrodism or gender dysmorphia and I have no problem whatsoever with high teens and adults seeking help if they feel they are in the wrong body. It’s right and proper that they should be helped to be the person they want to be, but very young children?

NO. EMPHATICALLY. NO.

True body dysmorphic syndrome is a medical condition like any other and treatment should be forthcoming, however, it has a few added complications. Unlike arthritis, or a broken leg or the measles there are deep seated psychological issues that have to be dealt with. Those people who are truly body dysmorphic understand this, they understand the medical professionals need to be sure that they are sure, that this is what they want to do. It is radical surgery and it’s right that it is treated as such.

Most people who have changed sex do, in my limited experience with the transgender community, feel relieved and happy that they went ahead. That’s great, that’s what it’s all about, allowing someone to be who they want to be in a body that matches the sex they are in their head.

Will we be able to say the same thing about the immature children who are deciding at ever younger ages that they want to change sex?

Just to touch on the legal aspects of these cases. All treatment for minors has to be signed for by parents or guardian. We are talking about surgery that doesn’t save a life or a limb here. We are talking surgery that will forever alter the way the child is perceived and the way they perceive themselves. Have these parents thought of the possible ramifications of this? That there is a possibility of their child turning around as a young adult and asking:

“Why? I was a little kid, why did you do allow this?” 

The parents don’t have a leg to stand on. They signed the consent forms. The kid didn’t. This super-mature child that decided at four years old he/she wanted to be a girl/boy, wasn’t allowed to sign to say they understood the procedure and accepted the risks involved in that procedure.

The parents signed and that happens because children are not considered to be mature enough to consent on their own behalf.

If you can’t get married without consent until you are an adult how can you be considered mature enough to make a decision about something that will affect you physically forever?

If you can’t watch some movies until you are an adult, drive a car until you reach a certain age or even buy a beer until you are considered mature enough then how in Gods name can you decide on something as radical as gender reassignment  when you are just 4 years old?

I am incensed by this and as far as I am concerned the parents, psychiatrist and the doctors should all be prosecuted for child abuse

Every child is a gift and as parents we have to do our best for our children. Doing your best for a kid who is little more than a toddler does not mean committing them to life in a body that is opposite to their birth sex until they are old enough to talk it through and commit OF THEIR OWN VOLITION at an age when they have the mental capacity to do so. If, after puberty such a child is still adamant that they want the surgery okay, I get it and can understand totally why parents would help, support and assist in any way they can.

This however is something different, something very different.
