Another one million illegal immigrants added themselves to the USA in 2011

Glenn Spencer of www.AmericanBorderPatrol.com presented a reality check to Janet Napolitano’s contention that illegal alien crossing dropped significantly in 2011.
The editorial board of the Washington Post said that apprehensions of illegal aliens along our southern border have been reduced to such a low level that Republicans can declare victory and move on to granting amnesty to 11 million illegals. “According to the Post, apprehensions are down to about 350,000 for the fiscal year that ends Sept. 30, 2011,” said Spencer. “Arizona Senator John McCain says the U.S. Border Patrol catches about one in four. So, for the year ending on Friday, 1,400,000 people tried to cross the border illegally and 350,000 were stopped. That leaves 1,050,000 who made it. To say this is success is outrageous.
“And, if we did declare success and grant amnesty to (at least) 11 million, what would the open borders crowd that runs DHS do? Stop enforcing the border, that’s what.
“It is past time that we stopped playing games and set a real goal for border protection. It is not unrealistic to believe we could reduce illegal entry across our southern border to about 20,000 per year. We could also install a reliable system to count everyone who crosses the border. Once this is in place and the goal of 20,000 have been reached and maintained for two years, we should proceed with the debate over what to do with those illegal aliens who are still in the U.S.
“It is time that at least one of those engaged in the Republican debates endorse such a plan and let the people decide if it is right for America.”
With over 20 million illegal aliens residing inside the United States, the costs annually exceed $346 billion in welfare, food programs, assisted housing, anchor babies and medical costs. The Heritage Foundation reported a $3 to $5 trillion price tag for granting amnesty to illegal aliens depending on the final tally of their numbers that take us up on amnesty.
