Jalisco: Mexican Navy were looking for Mencho, when attacking police

Mexican Navy, SEMAR, were searching for El Mencho when mistakenly attacking police. Mencho, whose name is Nemesio Oseguera is the leader of the CJNG cartel and is often transferred between points via cloned patrol vehicles.

Governor of Jalisco, Aristoteles Sandoval, traveled to Mexico City to file a complaint because the navy seized five patrols of a single force when undertaking the operation in Jilotlan de los Dolores, after the killing of mayo Juan Carlos Magana.

The mayor was shot dead on Sunday. In an official statement, prosecutors said that municipal police received a report on Sunday of a body in a vehicle on a highway outside town.

At the scene, police discovered mayor Magana dead with multiple gunshot wounds.

El Universal reports that he was running for re-election with the Citizens’ Movement party. Mexico has national elections July 1.

State police affirmed that navy personnel fired shots from a helicopter with the intention of stopping the units.

The area where the incident took places is key, because Mencho is roving around that section of the state. Authorities said that Mencho is leading what is now the most powerful criminal organization.

The event took place at 3:55 yesterday.

Jilotlan is in southern Jalisco near the border with Michoacán.
