India Awaits for Friday the 16th

India will await the National Election results on 16th of May 2014. With the Narendra Modi wave and the anti congress mood in the country along with the hopes of the new party (AAP), all are sealed in the ballots and will be known on the day of results. With BJP looking strong it will be vital for them to get a majority of the seats in order to form a stable government for the next five years.

The election which was conducted in 9 phases is yet to complete its final phase on Monday. With eight phases completed successfully without any major troubles it is highly appreciable that the elections of the largest democracy and largest population in the world were carried out successfully. The credit fully goes to the Election Commission of India. The ninth phase of the election is to be held on Monday the 12th of May 2014.

Around 800 Million people voted in 2014 and it is already one of the largest voter turnouts for the country. With the third front coming up and also the AAP going nationwide there could be a few problems of the forming of the government. To Form a government a Party clear needs to have seats in the range of 230-250 that would mean the other major national party would then fall drastically.

The Rallies of the party heads, though huge in numbers, were peaceful throughout the country. Although there were no acts of violence in the society during the polls, the war of words were ferocious through all the parties and that made headlines for days and months. People will be finally relieved on 12th when the polling comes to an end with the continuous promotions and the processions & the road shows & the speeches of the Party heads and the MP’s and everything that’s going on from around six months now.

A total of 543 seats has the fight and the majority which is needed to form a government is 272 seats. The hot topics of the 2014 elections were rising prices of the daily commodities, jobs for the unemployed, corruption, lack of development in the country etc. along with these important issues the political parties also locked horns over the communal riots that happened in the past and riots of 1984 and the recent riots were the few to be named of. Communal war of words were carried out throughout the elections though the flags of secularism were hoisted in almost all of the speeches made by the MP’s of all the parties.

Few of the results which will be interesting to watch out for will be that of the seat in Amethi where there is a three way battle between Smriti Irani of the BJP, Rahul Gandhi will be at his home ground and is for the first time facing the heat & the third opposition being Dr. Kumar Viswas of the AAP. The Varanasi seat which is fought by Narendra Modi is also facing oppositions from the AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal.
