APUTF Boycotts Teacher’s Day Celebrations

• This boycott a protest against detentions and mental harassment
• Alleging bind over cases against teachers still on

Vijayawada (BIN – IC): APUTF President Mr. Venkateshwarlu and General Secretary Mr. Prasad said that they are boycotting the Teacher’s Day celebrations that will be organized by the government on September 5 this year. They released a press statement on Saturday that the state committee of APUTF (Andhra Pradesh United Teachers’ Federation) had decided to that effect. They said that this resolution was taken by the leadership of APUTF to strongly protest against the disappointing actions taken by the government.

Early arrest of teachers in the name of CPS movement, asking for a surety bond of two lakh rupees to release from bind over cases, seizure of own vehicles and mobile phones, detention in police stations for two days, going to the houses of women teachers at night and affrighting them, taking them to the police stations, creating false evidence that they are going to Vijayawada even though they were in schools, filing false cases that they were plotting sabotage, shifting them from one police station to another police station and subjecting them to mental, harassment…they criticized these unseemly acts. They alleged that even today they are going to the teachers’ houses and filing bind over cases and subjecting them to mental harassment. The APUTF leadership said in the statement that they are boycotting the Teacher’s Day celebrations on September 5 in strong protest against these unseemly acts.
