Refuse Government’s Honours: Call By APTF

• Teachers facing insults at every step
• Government mounting pressure to use face recognition app
• Opposition growing in teaching community

Vijayawada (BIN – IC): APTF (Andhra Pradesh Teachers’ Federation) has given a call to refuse government’s honors that will be bestowed upon the best teachers on the occasion of Teacher’s Day on September 5. APTF State President Mrs. Chennupati Manjula and General Secretary Mr. Bhanumurthy released a press note to that effect on Saturday.

This time, unlike before, many teachers are showing strong opposition to the Teacher’s Day program that will be conducted by the government, they said in the press note. They expressed deep concern over humiliating teachers, keeping an eye on their movements, taking them to police stations at nights, filing illegal and bind over cases against them and asking for a surety bond of two lakh rupees.

Government is harassing the teaching community in many ways such as mounting pressure on them to use face recognition app, showing discrimination in promotions, not considering the sentiments of teachers in the process of transfers, filing illegal cases against those who asked to implement the abolition of CPS, they added. In that note, APTF leaders made an open call to the teaching community  to boycott this year’s Teacher’s Day and to  turn down the shawls, honours and awards as a protest.
