Devagiri, Bommanahal (BIN – IC): The four-day long puja celebrations of the village deity Gouramma began on Wednesday. The idol of Gouramma was installed by the villagers in the temple next to the local Zilla Parishad High School. The idol of the goddess was decorated brightly with devotion. Pujas are performed continuously for four days. Gouramma idol is taken in a procession throughout the village on Saturday with piety and traditional bhajans and immersion is done on Sunday morning. Villagers said that Gauramma Puja celebrations have been traditionally held in Devagiri village every year for many years.
