CPM Demands Immediate Opening Of Amalapuram Urban Health Center Amid Neglect

Andhra Pradesh (Before It’s News – IC): The district committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM) has called for the immediate operationalization of the Amalapuram Urban Health Center, which was hurriedly inaugurated before the elections. The party criticized the government’s inaction, warning that the facility, located in the municipal colony of Amalapuram, is on the brink of falling into disrepair despite an investment of Rs 2 crores.

• CPM Party’s urgent demands

CPM District Convener Kaarem Venkateswara Rao and District Committee Member G Durgaprasad urged the government to make the Urban Health Center fully functional and accessible to the public. They highlighted the poor state of the center, which, despite being opened before the elections, remains unusable. “If left like this, the center will only deteriorate further,” they warned, noting that the building’s glass has already been broken due to neglect.

• Neglect despite investment

The CPM leaders expressed frustration over the government’s neglect, pointing out that the facility, which cost approximately Rs 2 crores, is currently unusable. “The temporary setup in a local concert hall has proven inadequate, with none of the 16 allocated beds being operational,” said Durgaprasad. The party demanded that the government take immediate action to prevent the center from falling into further disrepair.

• Need for permanent staff

In addition to reopening the center, the CPM has called for the appointment of full-time doctors. The health center currently relies on temporary doctors, leaving patients without consistent care. The party emphasized the importance of having a permanent medical staff to ensure the center can fulfill its intended role in safeguarding public health.

• Public frustration

CPM leaders, including Polamuri Srinivasa Rao and K Shankar, voiced the public’s frustration with the current state of the health center. They demanded that district officials act swiftly to ensure that the facility is made fully operational and accessible to the people of Amalapuram.
