Egypt Air Flight MS804 from Paris to Cairo Disappears over the Mediterranean, Rescue Operations Now Underway

Egypt Air Flight MS804 has disappeared from radar over the Mediterranean on a flight from Paris to Cairo. 59 passengers and a crew of 10 were on board.

“An informed source at EGYPTAIR stated that Flight no MS804, which departed Paris at 23:09 (CEST), heading to Cairo has disappeared from radar,” the airline said in a brief statement. “EGYPTAIR media canter will update as more information becomes available.”

The statement added that radar contact was lost at 2:45 a.m. Cairo time when the aircraft was over the Mediterranean Sea at an altitude of 37,000 feet. The aircraft was about 10 miles into Egyptian airspace when it suddenly disappeared from radar. The cause is unknown.

Rescue operations are now under way.
