Portland Mob Torches City’s Multnomah Building

TRUNEWS with RICK WILES Portland police declared an official riot Tuesday night, carried out by a 200-strong mob of “protesters” who were demanding the total abolition of police and prisons while “rallying” for Black Lives Matter. The group gathered at approximately 8 p.m. local time (11 p.m. EDT) in Colonel Summers Park and began marching through the streets of southwest Portland about an hour later. Police moved in at 10:30 p.m., and declared about an hour later. In the midst of the unrest, several of the “protesters” smashed windows out of the Multnomah Building, which serves as the seat of county government for Multnomah County. According to local news reports and independent video shot from the scene, several people then began pushing lit newspapers through the broken windows, setting the government offices inside on fire. Others threw rocks into windows in an attempt to get the fire to spread throughout the building. Dumpsters were also set on fire outside the building. Two people were arrested for rioting and attacking police. One officer suffered a minor injury. Meanwhile, in Texas, Gov. Greg Abbott has announced a new policy that will punish cities and towns that defund their police. Under his proposal, those communities will be banned from raising property taxes. Speaking at a police and fire training facility in Fort Worth, Abbott told reporters: “When crime is on the rise, the last thing we should do is defund the police. Cities that endanger residents by reducing law enforcement should not then be able to turn around and go back and get more property tax dollars.” And, in Ventura County, California, a sheriff’s patrol vehicle was overturned in a “ramming attack.” The vehicle was rammed twice, causing it to spin out of control and overturn. The patrol sergeant inside called in a description of the vehicle that attacked him. Another patrol car quickly found the suspect vehicle and a chase ensued. After the suspect vehicle wrecked, the driver – identified this morning as 29-year-old Frankie Avalos – was taken into custody and charged with attempted murder of a law enforcement officer.
