Trump Endorses Black Entrepreneur for Elijah Cummings’ House Seat

TRUNEWS with RICK WILES President Donald Trump has endorsed Baltimore entrepreneur Kim Klacik – a black woman – in the race to replace the late Rep. Elijah Cummings in Maryland’s 7th Congressional District. The president retweeted a video ad Klacik’s campaign produced in which she took a walking tour of the streets of Baltimore – claiming Democrats don’t want Americans to see what she was showing. Click here to see the video: https://tinyurl.com/yyzfb8j8 In retweeting the video, the president added the following comment: “Kimberly will work with the Trump administration and we will bring Baltimore back, and fast. Don’t blow it Baltimore, the Democrats have destroyed your city!” Klacik retweeted the president’s endorsement. She also appeared Tuesday on FOX News Channel’s “Ingraham Angle” to discuss her ad. Afterward, hostess Laura Ingraham said Klacik should be invited to speak at the Republican National Convention. Klacik started a company a few years ago that helps black inner city women in Baltimore become permanently employed and financially independent. She ran in the special election in April to fill Cummings’ vacant seat, but lost to former NAACP President and CEO Kweisi Mfume – who previously held the seat for nine years prior to Cummings’ election – by nearly 50 points in an election held by mail-in voting only. Mfume won the Democratic Party primary for the November election in a landslide, setting up the rematch with Klacik. In their April meeting, Mfume won more than 60 percent of the vote in both Baltimore and Howard counties, while winning more than 90 percent of the vote in Baltimore City. The 7th District, which was created in 1793, abolished in 1843, and reinstated in 1953, has only had three non-Democrat representatives: • William Hindman, a Federalist, from 1793-1799; • Daniel Jenifer, an anti-Jacksonian Whig, from 1837-1841; and • Augustus R. Sollers, a Whig, from 1841-1843 Since its reinstatement in 1953, the 7th District has been represented only by Democrats. And, following the 1970 Election, only by black Democrats: Parren Mitchell, Mfume, and Cummings. But political analysts say Klacik, with added name recognition, is hitting the Democratic Party where it hurts – especially as she faces off against a legacy candidate. President Trump also endorsed Anna Luna, who won the GOP primary in Florida’s 13th Congressional District on Tuesday by a significant margin. He congratulated her on her victory, and said that he had been watching her race “from the beginning” and he was very impressed with her candidacy, adding: “Your next opponent, Charlie Crist, is a Pelosi puppet who is bad on crime, our military, vets, and the Second Amendment. You have my complete and total endorsement!” Luna was the populist, pro-Trump candidate in a crowded field that pitted the president’s supporters against the anti-Trump elements of the GOP establishment. Written off as a “nobody in a safe Democrat district,” however, she won by 8 points despite polling in third place just four weeks out from the election. Rep. Charlie Crist, the former GOP governor of Florida, was unopposed in the Democratic Party primary. The 13th District, which includes Clearwater and Saint Petersburg, had been a Republican stronghold for 34 years before he took office at the start of the 115th Congress in 2017. Luna, an Air Force veteran, will have her work cut out for her. President Trump lost that district by 4 points in 2016. Crist’s margin was about the same. But, in 2018, his margin of victory grew to more than 15 points. Another big winner in the Florida primary on Tuesday night was independent journalist Laura Loomer, who won the GOP primary in the 21st Congressional District, which includes the president’s Mar-a-Lago resort. Although she polled neck-and-neck with local businessman Aaron Scanlan in the days leading up to the election, Loomer won by 17 points over the GOP establishment candidate, nuclear engineer and college professor Christian Acosta. She will now face Rep. Lois Frankel, who easily fended off a primary challenge by a political newcomer, in a general election battle where Democrats appear to have a nearly 3-to-1 advantage in registered voters. Loomer made headlines this year when she was banned by Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Medium, PayPal, Venmo, GoFundMe, Uber, and Lyft in the early days of the “cancel culture.” Still, she’s been able to continue to get her message out, and donors have contributed millions to her campaign – which is staffed with veterans of Sen. Rick Scott’s and President Trump’s successful Florida campaigns. She also had the endorsement of Rep. Matt Gaetz, who tweeted out his support while urging Floridians to get out and vote on Tuesday.
