Africa Endured A Brutal Period Of British Colonial History, During The Long Reign Of Queen Elizabeth II
On September 8, the 96-year-old British Queen Elizabeth II passed away. She advanced to become the longest-reigning queen in the world and the UK. Despite watching the globe experience rapid technological advances and tragedies during her 70 years as monarch of the United Kingdom, the Queen had never accused British governments of crime against the vulnerable and defenseless. What were the highs and lows of her 70-year reign?
As tributes to the British royal family come in following her passing, many people around the world were saddened by her loss. However, some Africans are still angry at Britain’s ruthless colonial policies on their continent during the lengthy reign of the queen. The late queen Elizabeth II did not comment on the atrocities committed in Africa by earlier British administrations. Many African nations still bear the scars of the devastation the British government inflicted.
Uganda, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, South Africa, and Ghana, are just a few of the countries where the British government’s rule has had a difficult or negative impact on the people. Crimes committed in Africa during colonization were backed by Queen Elizabeth II, just like when King Leopold of Belgium decimated the Congolese for its gain. Since the issue has a psychological impact on people, some atrocities can be forgotten but not everyone.
South Africa has been governed by an Apartheid system, or severe segregation, since the 1950s. Citizens of all races, including whites and blacks, had to live in designated neighborhoods. Black reservations were referred to as Bantustans, while black homes were referred to as matchboxes. These large mining and laboring communities were made up of conventional residences that were near to one another.
However, even today, decades after South Africa’s Apartheid system was abolished, its citizens still struggle to lead regular lives in their nation. Because of “white laws,” white supremacists now have a better quality of life than black people. Even though apartheid is no longer in place, black people’s lives are nonetheless incredibly difficult. They continue to be impoverished, and many still rely on the same white individuals that discriminated against them.
The nation that began as a Dutch colony and later proved to be extremely wealthy in diamonds and gold has evolved into a hotbed of murders, robberies, rapes, and an HIV-Aids-infected nation after apartheid was overthrown. In later sections of the article, I will shed more light on the latter. It’s unclear how South Africa will emerge from the HIV abyss.
The crime statistics are startling, showing that over 500 000 individuals are raped each year in the nation of a successful democracy, regardless of gender or age. Over 26% of South African adults are unemployed as of 2017, leaving about 6 million of them fully on their own. In the nation, there are more than 6 million people who are HIV-positive, or 15% of the population.
Rich natural resources in Africa have plagued the continent for a long time. The continent suffered atrocious crimes through slavery, colonization, Apartheid, and several diseases created by humans as a result of foreign avarice to preserve their economies and conduct successful trade throughout Western Europe and the United States of America.
Like other African nations held by the British administration, including Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe, South Africa experienced diseases brought on by human activity. For instance, a retired doctor who served in the British military in Uganda now resides in Britain. When CIA agents posing as scientists and journalists were accused of spreading misinformation about the origins of the Aids virus, Dr. Carswell was in Uganda at the time.
The main expert on Aids research, Dr. Wilson Carswell, was suspected by the Ugandan government of purposely infecting the population with Aids shortly after. The Ugandan government invaded his home and deleted every file related to the AIDS epidemic from his computer.
After a brief stay with his commissioners in Porton Down, Great Britain, Dr. Wilson Carswell was allowed to resume his position as head of the Aids unit of the Department of National Health and Population Development in South Africa, after he had managed to flee from Uganda.
Readers may be curious as to where I found this information. When I visited the German medical doctor by the name of Wolff Geisler, in Cologne, Germany, I obtained it from him. The alarming element of the narrative is how Dr. Wilson Carswell continued the intentional spread of the disease after he fled Uganda and moved to South Africa, where he was appointed the medical consultant to the government’s Aids unit.
