Make Sure Your Representative Supports Renewed Diplomacy

Help make sure that your representative is signed onto the bipartisan Congressional letter, sponsored by Rep. Dent (R-PA) and Rep. Price (D-NC), urging President Obama to reinvigorate diplomatic efforts to secure a nuclear agreement.

We have an important update for you on our Seize the Moment campaign.

We just sent a letter to the White House signed by 29 prominent former government officials and experts urging President Obama to reinvigorate diplomacy with Iran and to avoid provocative actions like further sanctions.

At the same time, a Congressional letter sponsored by Rep. Charlie Dent (R-PA) and Rep. David Price (D-NC) urging President Obama to pursue new negotiations and prepare to ease sanctions in exchange for Iranian compromises has been signed by over 50 Congressional Representatives!

However, hawks are working to silence voices of moderation and spoil this opportunity. Just this weekend, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu went on Face the Nation to call for “increasingly forceful sanctions” and more threats of war on Iran.

We can’t let this opportunity slip away and allow those pushing for war to close the diplomatic window.

Here’s what we need you to do:

1) If you haven’t done so, please send an email to your Representative urging them to sign the Dent-Price letter.

2) Call your Congressional Representative’s office and encourage them to sign onto the Dent-Price letter. It’s easy and only takes 5 minutes. To call, dial the Congressional switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and ask for your representative (find your representative). Our suggested script is below:

Hello,

My name is (first name, last name), and I am calling to urge to sign onto the bipartisan letter calling for diplomacy with Iran sponsored by Reps. Charles Dent and David Price. Has signed on yet?

(If yes:) Thank you!

(If no:) I strongly support this letter and urge to sign before it is sent out this Wednesday.

The more positive voices they hear from, the more likely they are to sign the letter. But be sure to do so as soon as possible, as the last day for Members of Congress to sign is Wednesday.
