D.C. Whispers: “With All Due Respect, Israel Does Not Require Your Approval”
Yesterday, Barack Obama spoke briefly regarding his belief that Israel had every right “to defend itself” against rocket attacks. The president did not mention the terrorist organization Hamas in his statements, instead only focusing on the rockets and not the people responsible for firing those rockets into Israel. It now appears the motivation for Barack Obama’s words was a quickly devised effort to get in front of the events now taking place today – namely Israel’s military invasion into Palestine in an effort to deal a debilitating blow to Hamas directly. President Obama’s seeming, albeit briefly spoken, support of Israel was in fact the result of the administration’s fear of looking impotent regarding the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The relationship between President Obama and Prime Minister Netanyahu has long been a chilly, and at times, openly contentious one. Yes, for Israel “to defend itself” a brilliant insight which would not have occurred to anybody, without Mr. Obama pointing out this remarkable revelation, Israel surely very grateful to have his permission to engage in self defense. But I don’t know what’s wrong with Mr. Netanyahu, what the big deal is over a few hundred rockets fired at civilians, why he should have his shorts in a bunch over a few hundred odd crimes against humanity. He needs to seek peace with Israel’s genocidal enemies, yet he always gets his shorts in a bunch over little ‘ol things like promises to push Israel into the sea or Iranians getting nukes, when all they’ve done is repeatedly promise a little ‘ol destruction of Israel. Don’t know what’s wrong with all these Jews. Any other nation would welcome being rained on with rockets, see this as an historic opportunity to move on to bigger and better things, like getting pushed into the sea or nuked.
