Marine radiation monitoring post down after M7.4

In the evening of 11/22/2016, Tepco announced the radiation monitoring post in the sea has been suspended due to the quake. The post is situated at the end of the breakwater of Fukushima plant port. They cannot monitor the radioactive substance spreading to the Pacific with this monitoring post out of order.

They also admitted the underwater fence was damaged, and also the coolant water got out of the common spent fuel pool due to the quake. It reportedly spread over 2m * 3m but the exact volume is not announced.

About 40 minutes after the quake, Tepco announced they found no abnormality in Fukushima plant however 1m high tsunami was observed reaching the plant port.

Dans la soirée du 22 novembre 2016, Tepco a déclaré que la borne de surveillance de la radioactivité située en mer a été arrêtée à cause du séisme. Cette borne est située au bout de la jetée du port de la centrale de Fukushima. Ils ne peuvent plus surveiller la radioactivité qui se répand dans le Pacifique avec cette borne en panne.

Ils ont aussi reconnu qu’à cause du séisme la barrière souterraine était endommagée et également que du liquide de refroidissement s’était échappé de la piscine commune à assemblages usagés. Il aurait fuit sur plus de 2 * 3 m mais le volume exact n’est pas communiqué.

Tepco a déclaré ne pas avoir relevé d’anomalie dans la centrale de Fukushima environ 40 minutes après le séisme, alors qu’un tsunami de 1 m de haut était observé atteignant le port de la centrale.
