Harris County jail improvements follow report by ABC-13's Wayne Dolcefino: Featured video
It was three years ago that KTRK-TV’s Wayne Dolcefino pointed out that detox cells in Harris County’s criminal justice building were being used as storage closets.
Not any more. That space is now a new inmate processing center and drunk tank, Dolcefino reports, and the Harris County sheriff’s department is crediting Dolcefino with bringing the space-wasting to its attention.
“To compliment you and your work, this is where journalism does demonstrate some effectiveness,” Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia said.
Uh, sheriff, with all due respect, there’s a lot of effectiveness to journalism. If there wasn’t, you wouldn’t be reading this story. Or any stories.
But I digress.
“I saw your story. I believe that you were on point that letting this public investment go unused was really a disservice to the public,” Garcia said.
