Any time conservatives are asked about changing our immigration policy, their first priority is border security. We don’t want more illegals in this country and we want security from terrorists and the drug cartels. So it came as a shock to me to just learn that the Obama regime is closing the border sovereignty and drug interdiction mission in 60 days operated by ITT Exelis Company.

The mini-blimp or Tethered Aerostat Radar System (TARS)

“TARS provides cost-effective, low-level radar surveillance for the US-Mexico border, the Florida Straits, and a portion of the Caribbean in support of USNORTHCOM’s and USSOUTHCOM’s Counterdrug/Counter-Narco Terrorism (CD/CNT) missions. In addition to the CD/CNT mission, TARS surveillance data also supports North American Aerospace Defense Command’s (NORAD) air sovereignty mission for the continental United States. The TARS program is optimized primarily to detect low, slow flying aircraft. Operational locations are in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, the Florida Keys, and Puerto Rico with support locations in Newport News, VA, and El Paso, Texas.”

Does the regime have a better plan or does it just want to leave America vulnerable? Is it cynical of me to think that any terrorist act in the country will allow the regime to seize more power?
