Thoughts from an 8 Year Old

In 1776 we declared our independence from England and in 1783 we won our independence. We were no longer a monarchy. We started to organize our 13 original states. They made rules called Articles of Confederation, however it was not well organized so the leaders decided to make a constitution in May 1787. All of the states showed up except Rhode Island. The delegates that wrote the constitution were Alexander Hamilton, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, James Madison, Thomas Jefferson and others. They are called the framers and the framers did not want government to become to powerful, the people should be in charge. We are a constitutional republic, but the government and the people behind the government have been controlling us and they don’t follow any of the rules, so why even have a government?

Some day we need to stand up.
