Madhu Kishwar’s reputation as a major Indian classical liberal voice is now at risk

In relation to Sreekumar, I have gone through evidence and concluded that Sreekumar had NOTHING to do with torturing Nambi Narayan – or that even any torture took place.

In the meanwhile two comments have arisen:

a) A general commentator wrote here (a blog post by Brijesh Kalappa on Times of India) 

“This article is complete non sense. This story was thrown out of the supreme court and high court not just once, but multiple times. Not just the courts, human rights commission and all 6 investigating officers of CBI in their independent reports. These poor Maldivian women were severely assaulted, which cannot be described in words.”

I don’t agree that the writings of one of the senior-most IB officials and a High Court judge constitute “nonsense”. There is proof that there was actual spying by the Maldives woman on behalf of ISI, that Nambi Narayan was involved, that there was no torture that is being alleged by him and that there were many senior people in India who know everything about this case. Sreekumar was small fry at that time and is being dragged in by BJP merely to destroy the credibility of his writings against Modi.

b) Madhu Kishwar has called Sreekumar a CIA agent:

So apart from calling Pradeep Sharma a lecherous rogue and Mansi Soni a terrorist, Madhu Kishwar is calling Sreekumar a CIA agent. Looks like she is very sure of herself – she is even inviting a defamation case.

Unfortunately there are no publicly available databases of CIA agents that I can search. So I can’t validate her statement. But I request Sreekumar to speak out and clarify whether he is paid by CIA and, if so, whether he DELIBERATELY sabotaged India’s space program.

It remains to be explained, if that is the case, why Modi made Sreekumar head of the State IB and why Sreekumar was promoted to Director General of Police rank (through CAT).

Madhu has been one of India’s major classical liberal voices. I expect classical liberals to be OPEN to finding the truth. And once a classical liberal has formed a clear view, I expect full proof.

Four cases now test Madhu’s credibility:

1) Modinama:  This document I have reviewed and found to be seriously defective. It has no analysis whatsoever of the Godhra case and events of 27 February 2002. Its conclusions are therefore entirely flawed. I rate its analysis as very poor. If it was a dissertation for a honors degree, I’d fail it.

2) Mansi Soni the terrorist: I have not yet seen proof that Mansi Soni is a terrorist, despite Madhu alluding to such a possibility. (This leaves aside the issue that Madhu considers 18 year old Ms Ishrat Jahan – killed in cold blood by Modi’s thugs – to be a terrorist, of which I’ve not seen any proof).

3) Pradeep Sharma used his “official position to harass and sexually exploit” Mansi Soni. Sharma has filed a defamation case. Madhu has not provided ANY evidence to the public to substantiate her case, such as a statement from Mansi Soni. But now if we get such a statement from Mansi Soni, how could we believe it, since Mansi is a terrorist. And the question arises, why is Modi so close to a terrorist’s father?

4) RB Sreekumar is a CIA agent. To date there is NO evidence I have come across to suggest that Sreekumar is anything but a diligent IPS officer.

These four cases will make or break Madhu Kishwar’s reputation as a classical liberal. In my view she is wrong on all four of these with the first two statements being CLEARLY FALSE.

And unless there are “wheels within wheels” and I’ve missed out something not available in the public domain, there is NO TRUTH in Madhu’s last two statements as well.

I did not want to have a situation like this – where one of India’s pre-eminent classical liberals is put on the dock, but I have to speak out, since Madhu’s recent statements don’t make sense.

Note that none of this takes away from her MAJOR contributions to liberty in India.
