Are you fed up? I am. That’s why…

I sent this letter demanding Congress pass DownsizeDC.org’s “Read the Bills Act.”

I DO NOT CONSENT when Congressional “leadership” tries to pass bills during member vacations…

* Last December, Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky had to sprint 500 yards to the Capitol to object to bills being passed while most of Congress was on Christmas vacation. (http://bit.ly/1IbneXA) * In May, Rep. Justin Amash of Michigan stayed near Capitol Hill, during a vacation, because he feared a “voice vote” might renew the Patriot Act with almost nobody present. (http://bit.ly/1FcXnMq)

Americans created a revolution opposing “taxation without representation.”

Do YOU think “legislation without representation” is any better?

I support the Read the Bills Act, which demands that…

* You must read EVERY bill you plan to support * A quorum be present for a full reading of the bill — the Constitution defines a quorum as 50% plus one of you * That the bill be posted online for seven days before a vote, so I have time to give you feedback

This would prevent fiascoes like what Reps Massie and Amash had to endure.
