Decrying the War on Drugs at The University of Colorado at Boulder

On April 20, 2017, the University of Colorado-Boulder’s chapter set out to educate our fellow students about our government’s phony war on drugs.  While collecting signatures for marijuana to be taken off the schedule one drug list, our chapter also seized the opportunity to discuss the negative fiscal and social impacts of the war on drugs with our fellow students.  With newly militarized police forces increasingly infringing upon the rights of college students, we also handed out cards detailing how to respectfully handle an altercation with a police officer while protecting your individual rights.

Altogether, our chapter achieved our goal of starting a dialogue regarding our country’s dysfunctional drug policies and overzealous law enforcement.  We managed to gather roughly 75 signatures in a relatively short amount of time while disseminating nearly all of our “what to say to police” cards. As the University of Colorado’s YAL chapter has been inactive for a number of years, we are thrilled to continue principled liberty activism here on our campus.
