Is a virus released by BP responsible for the bird and fish deaths?

I wanted to post this because I had two theories on the fish and bird deaths. The first one was related to the shifting of our magnetic poles as I’ve stated in other posts, but the other theory lurking at the back of my mind relates to the BP oil spill.
We now have proof this is happening all over the world, and it isn’t hitting all species of fish or bird, thus scientists are being led to believe a virus is involved. I actually agree with them.

Note the part of the excerpt above which I have bolded: “mysterious blue stain in their beaks”. What if this virus they supposedly mixed with the dispersants and released into the ocean is infecting fish, and thus infecting the birds that eat fish or aquatic life?
Well lets have a look at the facts shall we. What sort of birds have been dying according to recent reports?
1) Red-winged-blackbirds
2) Teal Ducks
3) Bar-headed Geese
4) Turtle Doves
Red-winged blackbirds seem to be the most common, a quick Google search reveals this website where it describes what they eat and where they nest:
“The Red-winged Blackbird tends to thrive in areas like wetlands and marshes. This is partly because it is where they find most of their food supply in abundance(seeds, insects, small aquatic life). These birds generally like to nest over and around the water so the tall grasses are a great covering for them from predators such as the hawk or eagles. Their nests are usually cup shaped and are made of grass and wetland plants held together by mud.”
