From DATELINE ZERO - As stories of bird deaths continue to roll in — the latest of which includes more than 100 dead birds found off a Calif. highway — there have been many, many theories put forward as to the cause.
Perhaps the most plausible is lack of oxygen. This was suggested when blue discoloration was found on the beaks of some white birds in Italy.
This theory explains more than the bird deaths; it also could explain the equally astonishing fish-kills as well. Other explanations being tossed about include EMP, government testing, the weather, and fireworks.
One interesting, and hard to explain, twist came about when radar showed something appear in the sky over Arkansas very suddenly … about the same time that the blackbirds dropped to the ground. The radar blip isn’t weather related.
A new explanation being given for a bunch of dead birds in Romania: alcohol poisoning.
Birds that were thought to have died from avian flu in Romania instead apparently drank themselves to death. Local veterinary officials decided the starlings had died after eating grape ‘marc’ – the leftovers from the wine-making process.
I’m still waiting to hear if anything bad happens to those geese and ducks that were seen devouring the dead fish in Chicago … which was another strange story.
