A dead whale has washed up on a beach in the SW.
Environmental authorities are asking people to stay away from a dead whale that has washed up on a beach in the State’s South West.
The four-metre beaked whale, which is on Sandpatches Beach between Sugarloaf Rock and Cape Naturaliste and was reported on Wednesday, is about 20m from the shoreline and has been decomposing for some time.

The Department of Environment and Conservation
is asking people not to touch the carcass for health and safety reasons.
In a statement, the DEC said the carcass would be left to naturally decay due to its decomposed condition and because the beach was not accessible to vehicles or machinery.
The whale is not in the water so is unlikely to attract sharks, but people are warned to take care.
Signs have been installed at the beach and DEC staff are monitoring the situation.
Authorities have warned people to stay away from a rotting whale carcass on a South West beach.
