Standing Against Censorship. What Can We Do?
Let’s Get 47 U.S. Code § 230(c) Removed
(c)Protection for “Good Samaritan” blocking and screening of offensive material
(1)Treatment of publisher or speaker No provider or user of an interactive computer service shall be treated as the publisher or speaker of any information provided by another information content provider.
(2)Civil liabilityNo provider or user of an interactive computer service shall be held liable on account of— (A) any action voluntarily taken in good faith to restrict access to or availability of material that the provider or user considers to be obscene, lewd, lascivious, filthy, excessively violent, harassing, or otherwise objectionable, whether or not such material is constitutionally protected;
Lately, it is hard not to notice the ever-increasing social media censorship. Even posts or comments that are completely factual are being flagged, labeled as misleading, or even misinformation altogether. It is time to take a stand against this and flex our free speech rights before they are suppressed indefinitely. This will not be our “new normal”.
I am calling to all you patriots out there who are sick and tired of having their voice suppressed, to rise up peacefully and respectfully together and fight this. We need to contact our state senators and representatives, individually and consistently.
The most important part of all of this is to spread the awareness of this section and the importance of removing this section of 47 U.S.C § 230. I will provide a link at the bottom in order to get in contact with your state senators and representatives so we can fight this unconstitutional censorship. It has become a violation of their policy stated in section 230(b)(3) and also goes against all of their congressional findings in 230(a) that will be highlighted in red:

47 U.S. Code § 230 Document
230(b) (3) to encourage the development of technologies which maximize user control over what information is received by individuals, families, and schools who use the Internet and other interactive computer services;
230(a) Findings The Congress finds the following: (1)The rapidly developing array of Internet and other interactive computer services available to individual Americans represent an extraordinary advance in the availability of educational and informational resources to our citizens.
(2)These services offer users a great degree of control over the information that they receive, as well as the potential for even greater control in the future as technology develops.
(3)The Internet and other interactive computer services offer a forum for a true diversity of political discourse, unique opportunities for cultural development, and myriad avenues for intellectual activity.
(4)The Internet and other interactive computer services have flourished, to the benefit of all Americans, with a minimum of government regulation.
(5)Increasingly Americans are relying on interactive media for a variety of political, educational, cultural, and entertainment services.
This is also a problem that can be easily fixed with a policy already in place in section 230(b)(3). If a person so chooses, they can have their feed filtered to not include what the platform deems “objectionable”. The same as when a parental blocker is used to keep children from “obscene” or “objectionable” web content. We the user should have the option to have our platforms censored and not lose our freedom of speech through this questionable way of going about this “civil liberty”.
230 (b) (4) to remove disincentives for the development and utilization of blocking and filtering technologies that empower parents to restrict their children’s access to objectionable or inappropriate online material;
It only takes a small minority to set brushfires of freedom in the minds of fellow patriots. Share this message, post it on social media, keep bringing it up so others are aware something can be done, and most importantly: respectfully contact your state senators and representatives and let them know we are serious. Most of these public officials have forgotten who they work for and it’s time we start treating them like the public servants they are supposed to be. Rights are like muscles, and the only reason it seems like we are losing rights is that we are not flexing them like we need to be.
Included will be an easy resource for locating your state senators and representatives. I will also include a template for an email or letter. Let’s respectfully insist something is done about this via email, mail, or phone call.

Dear (Contact Person or Organization Name):
On (date), I have had my First Amendment rights infringed upon by (name of the social media platform) because (other important details).
Unfortunately, 47 U.S. Code § 230(c)(2)‘s intended purpose is currently being abused. It has given interactive computer services the ability to ultimately sway public views and ideals through control of narratives, censorship of personal testimony, and outright suppression of truth. I am disappointed because 47 U.S. Code § 230(c) is a direct and open infringement upon our First Amendment rights and a failure of the policy inside of 47 U.S. Code § 230(a). It is also against the very oath a public official of the United States swears, upholding the rights entitled to the American people contained within the Constitution of the United States.
In order to resolve this problem, I would appreciate your immediate support and action in this matter of defending We The People’s First Amendment rights, thereby moving to remove 47 U.S. Code § 230(c) from 47 U.S. Code § 230. It is evident that 230(b)(4) could easily be used in the same way it was originally intended, to filter or block the content of those who consent to have that said content removed.
I look forward to your reply and a resolution to my problem and will wait until (set a time limit) before reminding you of your duty to the American people to defend our Constitutional Rights, which again you have sworn an oath to uphold as an elected official. Please contact me at the above (email) address, by phone, or at (home address).
Sincerely,
