Mental Discipline – Do You Really Have What it Takes to Manifest the Life of Your Dreams?

How badly do you want to experience your desires? How much effort are you putting in on a daily basis?

Are you sure that you really want to be living the life of your dreams?

Many of us lead busy lives. Many of us have families to attend to, loved ones to care for, jobs to hold down, and a whole host of other time consuming odds and ends (hobbies, chores, television) that keep us busy and dictate our focus and attention.

With all that in mind, I’ll ask you again; How badly do you want to experience your desires, and how much effort are you putting in on a daily basis? How often do you think about manifesting your dream life during your day? Do you think of your desires every minute? Are you as enamoured with your desires as you were your first love?

No matter what you find yourself doing during your day, you will always be generating thoughts and mental pictures. Sometimes our thoughts and mental pictures are associated with whatever we are doing or experiencing. Sometimes our thoughts and mental pictures have little if anything to do with what we are doing or experiencing.

For the most part though, our thoughts and mental pictures are triggered by some outer stimuli tied to our environment or the things contained within that environment. As a general rule, we are rarely standing guard at the gates of our imagination and are therefore allowing all sorts of things to walk unchallenged into our minds.

If you really want to start living the life of your dreams, you’re going to have to begin to develop a stronger sense of mental awareness.

If you want to lose weight and keep that weight off, you must change your entire lifestyle. So-called ‘yo-yo’ dieters become stuck in an endless loop of diets, weight loss, and weight gain because they fail to realise that in order to maintain a healthy, fit body, there must be a complete overhaul of diet and exercise – and both of these things must form the basis for a new way of life forever, not just for a few months.

You can’t just feel the pain of being overweight in January, lose weight in the following few months, and then slowly re-introduce cakes, chocolate, and alcohol back into your daily life while sitting on your butt all day as the year comes to an end. All of the hard work that you’ve put in must be maintained. In fact, all of that ‘hard work’ must be changed to ‘this is how I live my new life’.

This same idea applies to your mental fitness and your ability to manifest the life of your dreams.

If you’re always reacting to outer stimuli, allowing your mind to gorge on other people’s negativity, short-sightedness, and self-imposed restrictions, what kind of life do you think you’re going to end up living?

Just in case you don’t know, I’ll tell you: you will end up living a life of negativity, short-sightedness, and restriction.

You certainly will not ever be living the life of your dreams.

So, what’s the answer? Well, it’s really rather simple – its time for you to get into the best mental shape of your life, and then maintain that new mental level of fitness. Note that I’m not suggesting you go on a ‘mental diet’. I’m telling you that if you’re really determined to manifest your desires, it’s time for you to condition your mind to work in a certain way for the rest of your time here on planet Earth.

From a young age, we perceive the world around us on a different level than the one we use when we are older. Physical reality is a magical place of endless fun and unlimited possibility to a wide-eyed child.

It’s easy to focus on fun stuff when you’re young. We’re practically obsessed with fun. However, as we get older, it becomes harder and harder to see the physical reality around us as we once did when there were no bills to pay, responsibilities to shoulder, or adult politics to deal with.

From teenage years into our twenties, and then from our twenties on into our thirties and forties, we are being continually conditioned to perceive the world in a ‘grown up’ way. We’re bombarded with commands to conform and be like everyone else. We become consumers surrendering ourselves to dictatorships of brand name manufacturers and mainstream media.

Manifesting desires and experiencing the life of your dreams isn’t just about focusing on the things you want to experience. There is a huge amount of deep programming of the mind to undo first. The muscles of your imagination must be used and built and turned from weak to strong. You must begin to take notice of the thoughts you are generating and the pictures you are forming in your mind.

You really do have the power to perform mental alchemy. You have the power to transform certain aspects of your reality into others. Where many see one truth, you have the potential to see and manifest another. Where one says, “What would happen if I didn’t get what I want?”, you have the power to ask instead, “What would happen if I DID get what I want?”

It’s time to take a fresh look at the world from an old perspective, the perspective of the younger you who looked at his or her surroundings and saw unlimited potential and endless possibility for magic to occur.

It’s time to start training yourself to alter and shape your personal experience of reality so that it eventually conforms to your inner thoughts and imaginal pictures – thoughts and pictures YOU choose to generate.

As with any form of exercise set in motion to improve fitness and strength, it’s best to start small and work your way up to the more intensive mental conditioning exercises.

Begin with a few simple experiments. Start by imagining a few extra pounds or dollars in your wallet or purse. Form a mental image of yourself looking fit and healthy and smiling, and return to that image throughout the day. Compliment yourself for the smallest of things and begin to recognise the talents that all too often go unnoticed.

Get yourself into the habit of taking notice of your thoughts. Start to count the negative thoughts you have during your day (there will be many) and, rather than try to ignore them, just accept the thought, recognise that you were the one who generated the thought, and then use that thought to generate the opposite positive thought.

Begin to mentally remind yourself as many times a day as possible that you have unlimited, untapped inner power. You are influencing everything and everyone around you with the thoughts and imaginal pictures you generate on a consistent basis.

The only way that you will get to experience the life of your dreams is by having absolute focus and commitment – and these two things must be practised every moment of every day, regardless of what’s going on around you.

You’ve got to develop the focus and dedication of a Tibetan monk. You’ve got to stop spending the majority of your time in your outer reality, and start dedicating yourself more and more to your inner world.

The question to ask yourself now is, “Do I really have what it takes?”

Start to expect the best from your day. Anticipate the best. Picture the best. Stand guard at the gates of your imagination and start generating the blueprint of your life experience – because if you don’t, others will; and there’s more than a good chance that you won’t enjoy the events that they have set in motion.
