Intuition….. or am I just screwed up?

Like most people who listen to their intuition I seem to have an uncanny knack of reading people and picking up little bits of information about them and, sometimes, it is not necessarily information that I want to know.

It’s usually just picking up their mood and how they perceive the world. For example, if I’m relaxing in a café and people watching I might get some ideas of the relationship between two people or, if I’m talking with someone I get a sense of their thoughts towards me or other people that come up in conversation.

It’s probably something that we all do. We may not call it intuition. Perhaps guessing, rationalising or reading body language are also suitable labels.

Just recently I was reading a little quote in the internet. It’s nothing new and something we’ve all probably heard before. To paraphrase, the message is that what we see in others is a mirror of ourselves. So, if we see rudeness, judgement, discrimination or anything else in others we are really seeing our own rudeness, judgement, discrimination etc. reflected back. I’m sure you’ve come across this countless times just like me.

But it’s only recently that I’ve compared these two things and asked the question: When I see things in others intuitively am I really being intuitive or am I just seeing some of my unconscious stuff coming to the surface?

I don’t know the answer but thought it something interesting to ponder on. What do you think?
