The night we met, upon Mount Royal’s peak,
Surrounded by the green Montreal trees,
Our heartbeats racing, rum warming our chests,
Our lips met in a first kiss on the grass,
And there was nowhere I would rather be
Than right there lost in love and life with you.
The sun set on the beach of Mexico,
And there you smiled, bathed in golden light,
And peace fell gentle on my open heart,
Like warm spring rain upon a garden green,
And there was nowhere I would rather be

The sunlight glinted off of temple tops,
Reflecting off of golden tiles in beams,
That brightened up your eyes already bright,
A warm Thai breeze blew softly through your hair,
And there was nowhere I would rather be
Than right there lost in love and life with you.
The limestone cliffs rose up off to our right,
As faint clouds brushed across them in soft white,
We laughed as paddles dipped in Laotian waves,
To drive our red kayak back to Vang Vieng,
And there was nowhere I would rather be
Than right there lost in love and life with you.
Such memories long gone still feel so real,
And yet our love was shipwrecked on the rocks
Of life and change and choices that we made,
That caused our golden fire to slowly fade,
And there is nowhere I know I can flee
The thought of being lost in love with you.
