Question: CENTCOM Commander Gen. Frank McKenzie worries that American
forces are at risk when Israel takes steps to defend itself against a
country dedicated to destroy it.

#1. What policy recommendation for Israel follows from the remark? Stop
defending ourselves against a country dedicated to destroy us because Iran
retaliates by endangering American forces in the region?

#2. More important: What policy recommendation for American forces follows
from the remark?

Here’s a novel idea: Why doesn’t Gen. Frank McKenzie order his American
forces to RESPOND to the Iranian attacks which put American forces at risk.

“You asked about Iran and Israel. So I think it’s obvious that Israel is
going to take steps to defend itself when it’s confronted with Iranian
actions. And of course, Iran is dedicated to the destruction of Israel.
That’s a matter of public record, they’ve said that many times.

I do worry about these exchanges between Iran and Israel because many times,
our forces are at risk, whether we’re in Iraq or in Syria. So that, in fact,
does concern me as we watch this — as we watch these series of exchanges.”
