NBC News is reporting that multiple senior U.S. intelligence officials have stated that if the United States simply ”becomes convinced” that North Korea is about to conduct another nuclear test then the U.S. is prepared to launch a preemptive strike against them.

North Korea on the other hand has said that if they receive any sign that the U.S. is about to conduct a nuclear attack then they will “hit the U.S. first” with their own nuclear weapon.

Their most important national day is this Saturday, April 15th. It’s the 105th anniversary of the birth of their founding president Kim II Sung. The fear is that they may choose to conduct their next test on this big day. There is a chance though that China may be able to talk North Korea out of conducting any more tests. The North Koreans seem to be very resolute about continuing with their nuclear program though. In the New York Daily News they were quoted as saying: “The U.S. missile attack against Syria is a clear and unforgivable act of aggression against a sovereign state and we strongly condemn this,” a foreign ministry official said on the KCNA news agency. “The reality of today proves our decision to strengthen our military power to stand against force with force was the right choice a million times over.”

Even if this conflict doesn’t “go nuclear” North Korea may still rain down destruction upon Seoul, the capital of South Korea, not to mention our troops stationed there. As of 2014 the U.S. had around 29,300 troops stationed in South Korea. They may even attack Japan in their wrath to hit any close allies of the United States.
We now find ourselves in a very high stakes game of chicken with North Korea. Both sides have stated that they are ready to go all in. If neither side is bluffing, or if neither side ends up blinking at the last minute then this could be a very tragic Easter Sunday for everyone…

Oh, I see. As soon as both parties are “convinced” the other is going to launch or attack, then everybody shoots everybody else. These guys are just brilliant. Sounds like the cowboy days of old.
