A Closer Look at the 2014 Lamborghini Aventador

If you’re looking for a road-ready car that looks and feels like it’s ready for the race track, the 2014 Lamborghini Aventador has your name on it. With a futuristic interior and powerful 6.5-litre V12 engine providing 691 horsepower, you’ll feel more like you’re riding in a jet than a car when you take the new Aventador for a spin. It’s worth taking a closer look at its various features to see how this new model stacks up to its competition.

Interior and Exterior Design

Start by taking a gander at the new Lamborghini Aventador at Carsales, where you can clearly see the attention to detail. The exterior is sleek, curvy, and pointed into a wedge shape with a sharp nose and slim tail that makes it look like it would fit right into a space program. Inside the cabin, there’s a high-tech cockpit and tight seating. The nose can raise and lower, which makes it easy to manoeuvre in tight spaces. However, there isn’t a ton of space in the cargo or cabin area. The Aventador is designed to be as aerodynamic as possible, so any extra space has been trimmed away to leave it lean and powerful. You’ll be able to fit two adults into the car but not too much else. Designed from ultra-lightweight materials, the Aventador weighs in at approximately 3,700 pounds.

Engine and Handling

In addition to the 6.5-litre V-12 engine, there’s an additional option to commemorate the Aventador’s 50^thanniversary. Called the Aventador LP 720-4 50 degree Anniversario, this model comes equipped with a higher horsepower of 710 along with a more aggressive aerodynamic design. It is also available in a special yellow colour, custom-made wheels, and with special badges to mark the first design in 1963. The regular Roadster model is capable of hitting top speeds of 217 mph and can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in under three seconds, proving that the emphasis on performance and light weight design has paid off. The car is quite wide to handle, but it is able to handle corners with ease as well as curvier roads.

Along with the V-12 engine, drivers benefit from an Independent Shifting Rod transmission. This can be operated by the driver using paddle shifters mounted onto the steering column, or it can be left in the hands of a computer. Shift time and quality will vary depending on the mode of driving you select. There are three to choose from, including special modes for street, track, or sport. In street mode, the Aventador adjusts gears for lower rates of acceleration. By adjusting the car into sport mode, you can rev up the engine more quickly. If you’re ready to go full speed ahead, then you’ll want to shift into track mode, for a full-throttle experience.

The Verdict

The three different modes are an interesting feature, making the Lamborghini Aventador suitable for a variety of different environments. Its cramped interior quarters may not make it the best car for a long distance road trip, but it makes up for this with high performance on city streets and motorways alike. You most likely won’t buy the Aventador for its mileage either, which is 13 mpg combined. Overall, this is a sleek, futuristic, and fun supercar for 2014.
