Jolla Sailfish OS-powered smartphone launched in 136 countries, Jolla’s Sailfish OS now compatible with Android hardware and software, Jolla’s Sailfish OS SDK Now Available For Linux, Windows and Mac phones, Jolla, which is led by ex-Nokians, has taken the abandoned MeeGo OS and wrangled it into a new, slicker version called Sailfish. The Linux-based OS will in theory be available for a number of device types, but the first commercially-available version will be on a smartphone sold through the Chinese distributor D.Phone and the Finnish carrier DNA. It’s available for free at the source link, with the aquatic caveat that the SDK is just a minnow, but the company hopes you won’t toss it back straight away.
