Someone up in the ranks of LEXUS still thinks that NUMBERS and LETTERS are enough to get people excited about a car. They’re WRONG. Dead wrong. They need to grab a DeLorean Time Machine and head back to the America of the 50’s and look at cars. Well, at least at the NAMES.

The Fireflight. Riviera. Hornet. Toronado. Roadmaster. These names conjure up memories of Travel, Excitement and Wonder. Honestly, who’s going to remember the UX 250h in 20 or 30 years? But the Riviera??

The DESIGN of the 250h is solid. Side sculpture is enough to make you oggle a bit, but it’s hands down a level 5 on the excitement scale of 20. And while Chevy boosts the BLAZER, Ford boosts the LIGHTNING and TESLA boost the SEXY, Lexus is doing the UX 250h?

I like this car for it being… a car. It’s functional, comfortable and hands down capable. But is that enough for Lexus to get butts in the seats? Time will tell. It’s a Hybrid and that’s probably the best thing going for it.

If all you care about is mileage, comfort and a racy color, then this is the car for you. Enjoy. But if you want something more, you’ll need to pony up Lexus for a bigger better model like the NX, GX, LX, RZ or any other of their two-letter cars.

Seriously Lexus… somebody needs to light a fire under your AXX.
