Tesla focuses on Cybertruck Foundation Series, drops RWD variant from order page
Tesla’s recent update to the Cybertruck’s official order page indicates that the company is still focused on producing and delivering Foundation Series units for the time being. The update also resulted in the base Cybertruck Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) being taken off the all-electric pickup truck’s order page.
As can be seen on Tesla’s Cybertruck order page, customers can select between the Foundation Series Cybertruck All Wheel Drive (AWD), which costs $99,990, and the tri-motor Foundation Series Cyberbeast, which costs $119,990. Delivery dates for the Foundation Series Cybertruck AWD are estimated for August to September 2024, while Foundation Series Cyberbeast orders are listed with an estimated delivery date of October to December 2024.
Prior to the update on the Cybertruck’s order page, the all-electric pickup truck was listed with three variants: the Cybertruck RWD, which costs $60,990; the Cybertruck AWD, which costs $79,990; and the Cyberbeast, which costs $99,990. The Cybertruck AWD and Cyberbeast were listed with a target delivery date of 2025, while the base Cybertruck RWD was simply listed as “available in 2025.”

While Tesla’s update to the Cybertruck’s order page could be interpreted as the electric vehicle maker quietly stopping orders for the cheapest version of the all-electric pickup truck, it should be noted that the update is solely focused on the currently available Cybertruck Foundation Series. Considering that there was never a Foundation Series Cybertruck RWD variant, the absence of the vehicle’s cheapest variant on the vehicle’s current order page is unsurprising.
The Cybertruck Foundation Series is a limited run of the all-electric pickup truck that is only available for the first year of the vehicle’s production. Included in the Foundation Series package — which is a $20,000 premium over the price of the non-Foundation Series Cybertruck AWD and Cyberbeast — are laser-etched Foundation Series exterior and interior badges, Full Self-Driving (Supervised), Lifetime Premium Connectivity, PowerShare Mobile Connector, $2,500 Tesla Shop Credit, an Off-Road light Bar, and Premium Accessories.
