Dear Wal-Mart - Grow a Backbone when replying to complaints about the Stasification of your Business

A lily-livered letter in reply to a disgruntled customer alarmed at the Stasification of Wal-Mart shows little more than their towing the DHS Line. Corporate Cowardice is alive and well.

Recently, an American friend of mine wrote an angry email to Wal-Mart about their co-operation with the Department of Homeland Security in encouraging customers to become Stasi agents, as well as purveyors of cheap plastic crap. This friend is a lady of few words, and her email is short, blunt and to the point:

“…I am sorry to inform you that I will no longer shop at your stores. Why? Because of your cozy relationship with DHS…”

Their rather terse reply shows a decided lack of customer relations skills and an unwillingness to deal with the actual substance of her complaint:

“…Dear Ms. X,

Thank you for your recent inquiry. It’s important to Walmart to help protect the safety of the communities we serve all across the country. We’re proud to be the first national retail partner of the Department of Homeland Security’s awareness campaign “If You See Something, Say Something”. Everyone has a role to play and this is one way our company can help do our part, by providing these public service messages.All Walmart stores that are equipped with video screens (nearly 600) at the checkouts will feature a short video message from Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano encouraging customers to report any suspicious activity to their local law enforcement.Walmart is a place where people gather – in many towns, it is where neighbors might see one another the most. -We want our customers and associates to always be vigilant, whenever they are out in public, to help them ensure their personal safety and the safety of their community.For more information, please visit our website @ www.walmartstores.com/pressroom and search for the article under ‘recent news’ or search the site using the phrase ‘Homeland Security’.

This email shows the level of contempt that Wal-Mart and the Department of Homeland Security has for the American people, in as much as they not only sent her a standard reply that in no way addresses her concerns, but that this reply was probably co-written with the DHS, the exact organisation that her complaint is based on.

Wal-Mart are going to find out very quickly that the American People will not stand for the Stasification of the United States through them, or through any other organisation. Already they are warning their staff not to complain about this new relationship with the Department of Homeland Security on social media outlets like Facebook, which shows they are more concerned with silencing dissent than dealing with the fundamental issues at hand.

As we have already reported, the Department of Homeland Security are trying to persuade the American People that becoming Stasi spies on their neighbours and fellow shoppers is the right thing to do in a free and fair society. The State cannot get much more Orwellian than this.
