Eligibility Media Wall: The Issue Everyone Loves to Hate

It is the issue that everyone knows exists but that most people would prefer to not talk about.

Perhaps it’s the fact that Donald Trump has breathed new life into the issue — so much so that it’s taking a lot of the air out of the room, perhaps to the chagrin of many a reporter or even talking head — or the fact that now nearly 75% of Iowan Republicans think that either Mr. Obama wasn’t born in the US or aren’t sure.  Do note that this polling was done by Public Policy Polling, known in some circles to be a Democratic-based organization — as in, not conservative, and likely not biased towards so-called “birthers.”

Regardless, it is getting talked about, and as the presidential campaign season has begun, this time it’s likely to reach epic proportions.

Let’s get started with Donald Trump.

Recently, The Donald was on FoxNews’ Hannity, and then he hit up George Stephanopoulos on ABCNews with a scathing interview:

Thanks to BirtherReport.com, and as the video ends, here is what the State Department says about the so-called “short-form” certifications of live birth:

*A certified birth certificate has a registrar’s raised, embossed, impressed or multicolored seal, registrar’s signature, and the date the certificate was filed with the registrar’s office, which must be within 1 year of your birth. Please note, some short (abstract) versions of birth certificates may not be acceptable for passport purposes. [emphases original]

And once again, the above is for purposes other than presidential eligibility, whereby the State Department says the following, specifically about such eligibility:

Ed. 7 FAM 1131.6-2 Eligibility for Presidency
(TL:CON-68; 04-01-1998)
a. It has never been determined definitively by a court whether a person who acquired U.S. citizenship by birth abroad to U.S. citizens is a natural born citizen within the meaning of Article II of the Constitution and, therefore, eligible for the Presidency.

I’ll have to set this up for you.

Here we have three videos of three different interviews — the first on FoxNews, the second on Hannity, and the third on ABCNews.

Frankly, she really screws up by the time she sees George in the third interview, and you’ll notice the progression that she makes from thinking that eligibility questions are good to basically stating that the online image of Mr. Obama’s alleged COLB is certifiable for eligibility, to the point where George actually does a great job of pinning her on the issue.

Rep. Bachmann was a lawyer, I thought:

Personally, I really could now seriously consider the possibility that there is a cover-up of epic proportions going on here — an unintentional cover-up of a mountain of ignorance on the part of our political class.

At least Trump is getting educated on the issue, and shows that he’s progressing on eligibility every day.

But then again, The Donald has nothing to lose; he’s not even a candidate at this time.
