Eligibility Update: More Videos and Reaction to “Where’s the Birth Certificate?”
HotAir.com produced two postings yesterday regarding the eligibility issue.
First, “What if the birthers are right?” (last two paragraphs):
Another question that I’d like to float: Is Obama intentionally withholding his long-form birth certificate to continue to perpetrate the notion that those who question him are crazy giving the media more ammo against the birthers and the right? It wouldn’t surprise me, but with Corsi’s evidence that may not be the case.
Finally, has the MSM, out of its allegiance to the Democrat party, missed the biggest story in the history of this country? And one thing you can be assured, the left will dissect and fact check Corsi’s book until the pages fall out, but will they be able to defend their position on the record? What they do with the information in Corsi’s book will probably need an extra large bucket of popcorn with butter because dare I ask this: What if the Birthers are right?
Then, a bit of analysis from a prolific blogger on Rep. Michelle Bachmann’s curious response to ABCNews:
Even a RINO candy-ass non-Birther like me is well enough acquainted with the nuts and bolts of the issue to know that Stephanopoulos doesn’t have his “birth certificate” in hand there. He has the Certification of Live Birth, the same document produced by The One’s campaign three years ago showing that he was born in Hawaii, which is based on information in the long-form birth certificate but isn’t the same thing. The actual long-form birth certificate is still under lock and key at the Hawaii health department; it does exist, according to a former department chief who says she’s seen it, and it does authenticate Obama’s birth in Hawaii, but neither Steph nor anyone else will get a copy until The One requests one and hands it out. Maybe Stephanopoulos knows that and is being coy by offering the COLB to Bachmann to see how she’d react, or maybe he hasn’t done his homework and genuinely thinks this is the secret document about which Birthers have been obsessing.
More interesting, though, is Bachmann’s reply: Either she’s so eager to be done with this issue that she’s willing to play along with Steph’s ignorance to lay it to rest, or she herself is so disinterested in Birtherism that she hasn’t bothered to learn the distinction between the long-form certificate and the COLB. Based on what she told Fox last week, I think it’s the latter. It sounds like she’s willing to play ball when asked about this, since some people take it seriously enough to keep posing the question, but she’d obviously rather talk about ObamaCare and the debt crisis. So she gives the constitutional answer — yes, let’s all check the natural-born box by producing our birth certificates — but she’s not so invested in the issue as to be a stickler about which “certificates” qualify. A mild surprise given her status as a hero of the base, which is where most Birthers seem to reside, but also proof that she’d rather focus on fiscal issues than question The One’s legitimacy.
Personally, I’m not saying that Rep. Bachmann is a terrible person, but there’s a very good chance that she is the consummate politician through and through, and may be looking at the poll numbers that Trump is producing on eligibility and was willing to dip her little toe on her left foot just enough to placate those who question.
Remember, she’s a lawyer, therefore she should know the difference regarding birth certificates. She’s not being straight up about all this; she may not know how to play it.
Now to the videos — involving The Donald, of course.
This one from FoxNews:

…and from CNN:

Note: Poll numbers show there’s more than passing interest (to say the least) in the eligibility issue. Trump is pursuing it, as has Dr. Corsi. Then the media gets onto Trump for going on about the issue. Of course, Trump is a master at media manipulation, and the media knows this, but they can’t do anything about it, because he’s a news-maker (he hasn’t announced for the presidency yet!), and he’s pursuing the issue and knows that enough of a plurality of Americans have doubts that it’s a real (among several) issue.
So CNN blames Trump for pursuing the issue, when, in fact, they could ask him about any other subject. Yet, they cannot get off the issue because Trump is pursuing it, and they can’t stand that someone of his profile is pursuing the issue, and even become notably incensed (wanting him to share what he’s been investigating). Did you notice that? With all of — say — CNN’s resources, they could have been doing exactly what he’s been doing, and more — but they haven’t. And I think they’re going to be shown up for the empty suits that virtually all of traditional media is.
Or, maybe some of them do realize what’s going on, and what Dr. Corsi’s book is really liable to show.
After all, now we have the UK’s Daily Mail that has done enough research through Stanley Ann Dunham’s biography (Mr. Obama’s mother) to show that as early as 9 years old Barack Obama wanted to be Prime Minister of Indonesia. Read through the entire article; maybe the theory that Obama’s mother (at least) wanted to push him for a top leadership position from an exceptionally early age is now anecdotally proven and could explain even more so why a couple of Hawaiian newspapers had birth announcements published.
Then, The New York Times (of all sources) posted a reasonably unbiased article concerning the current State-based debate over eligibility bills. Here’s a snippet:
Here in Oklahoma, where Mr. Obama won just over a third of the vote in 2008 — one of his worst state losses — Senate Bill 91 passed last month with overwhelming and even bipartisan support. People in both parties say they are confident that the House will go along by its deadline next week (though the bill would need to return to the Senate for a procedural vote). After that, lawmakers said they assumed that Gov. Mary Fallin, a Republican, would sign it. A spokesman for Ms. Fallin said the governor would not comment until the bill was on her desk and she could review it.
Legislators backing credentials bills in other states are closely watching what happens here, and said success in even one place would be a victory for all.
“If one state passes, and the Obama administration basically ignores the requirement and does not qualify for the ballot in that state, that would send a very strong signal that we have a situation in the United States where someone who is not eligible is occupying the White House,” said Mark Hatfield, a Republican state representative in Georgia whose ballot bill failed to get through. If Oklahoma does not go forward, and an override of Ms. Brewer’s veto in Arizona does not materialize, Mr. Hatfield said, “then other states, including Georgia, have a duty to step up.”
Democrats in Oklahoma, meanwhile, were divided. The minority floor leader in the House, for example, Chuck Hoskin, said he would probably vote yes. Asked in an interview whether he was concerned about embarrassing the leader of his own party, Mr. Hoskin said he thought Mr. Obama’s failure to win over Oklahomans in 2008 was the real embarrassment.
Today’s posting on marketer Seth Godin’s blog is a rather prescient piece that, while discussing marketing in general, describes how I think the media (and many detractors) approach the eligibility issue. Here’s the take-away:
Here’s the key truth: in any given moment, in any given situation, a person is either hungry or guarded. You need to decide which sort of person you’ll be telling your story to, because one approach won’t work on the other type of person.
[PS the mindset can (and does) change as people go through their day. At the bookstore she might be hungry for a new idea, and just a few minutes later, at the bus stop, she wants to be alone...]

I am so tired of all this. This is a SET UP. He does not want to show his birth cert because he knows every time someone brings it up a couple things happen. 1 you are losing time and energy 2 all to just look foolish to the ones that know…
At this point all you are doing his helping his campaign. Which I am starting to believe is the intent of some.
