Regardless of Wins the Truth Will Find a Way

It’s been said that God invented pollsters to make astrologers look good, and this presidential election has called into question perhaps like no other the widely disparate methodologies and scientific samples used to measure public opinion. With professional reputations on the line, post-election there will be much chatter among politicos of who got it right and who got it wrong and why. Yet despite the hundreds of surveys that have been conducted and garnered headlines, the lingering question of Barack Obama’s constitutional eligibility has not found its way onto questionnaires this election cycle.

Two exceptions, and as far as I know the only exceptions to this public opinion research black-out was polling conducted by Wenzel Strategies, an independent firm based in Ohio, in March 2011 (See: Bob Unruh, “POLL: Only 9% Believe Obama Has Documented His Eligibility,” March 21, 2012, Wenzel Strategies.com, http://www.wenzelstrategies.com/blog/polls/poll-only-9-believe-obama-has-documented-his-eligibility/), and the equally-overlooked more recent tracking polls conducted by YouGov.com as reported by Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) political science professor Adam Berinsky.

Berinsky reporting at YouGov writes, “Throughout the year, I have been tracking beliefs about President Obama’s citizenship” and “the percentage of people who think that Obama was not born in the United States has held steady throughout the year, and perhaps even increased slightly.” (See: Adam Berinsky, “The Birthers Aren’t Going Anywhere (An Update),” YouGov.com, October 1, 2012, http://today.yougov.com/news/2012/10/01/birthers-arent-going-anywhere-update/) In fact, among the subset of Republican respondents to the September 2012 survey an astounding combined 73% either still do not believe or are still unsure if President Obama was born in the United States, an uptick of four points from the 69% tracked in July.

True to his liberal leanings and belying his uninformed embrace of misguided assumptions about the birther movement, Professor Berinsky attributed the remarkable survey results to the “powerful forces” of “rumors and innuendo” in American politics. While MIT’s Berinsky should be applauded for tackling a critical topic that has seen orchestrated media censorship, he does his profession a disservice by publishing such a biased synopsis. As a concerned citizen, I strongly urge all visitors to this site to investigate for themselves the ever-growing body of evidence that disturbingly points not only to fraudulently constructed documents but to a fictitious biographical narrative which helped pave Barack Obama’s ascendency to the White House in 2008.  Among others, one good place to start is with the wealth of archived articles at ObamaReleaseYourRecords.com, http://obamareleaseyourrecords.blogspot.com/

On the topic of eligibility, those familiar with the work of the late conservative new media warrior Andrew Breitbart may not know that hours before his death on March 1, 2012, Breitbart contacted Maricopa County, Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio to express a desire to speak with him to learn more of his Cold Case Posse’s investigation into constituent allegations that the long-form birth certificate pdf posted on the official White House website was a computer-generated forgery. Jon David Kahn of Breitbart.com eloquently reminds us that Andrew “left behind a legacy that continues to inspire, and a road map for anybody willing to seek out the truth.” Andrew, he pens, engaged in what he called “an electronic civil war where the weapons are computers and cell phones, blackberries and Ipads.” (See: “War#: Robert the Bruce,” by Jon David Kahn, Breitbart.com, November 4, 2012, http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2012/11/04/20121104-War-Robert-The-Bruce)

On the day of this historic election I would like to remind voters, regardless of where they fall on the political spectrum, that behind the scenes without recognition from either the national media or prominent new media tour de forces (to regrettably include the crew at Breitbart.com), unsung citizen bloggers and old fashioned gumshoe investigators from all walks continue to do just that — engage in an electronic civil war for the truth. Collectively they have sought to bring from shadow to light the squelched evidence neglected by their non-inquisitive well-heeled peers who appear daily before us on our televisions and in print.

Just as there was a reason why Andrew Breitbart contacted Sheriff Joe, there are legitimate reasons why 74% of Republicans and significant numbers of Democrats and Independents across the country still question the veracity of Barack Obama’s biographical narrative. With all due respect to Adam Berinsky, the looming matter of Birther-gate cannot merely be reduced to the power of rumor and innuendo. If indeed it can be reduced to a snippet it could be said to be a Jurassic Park-like consequence of ‘nature finding a way’ — or in this case the truth. Regardless of today’s electoral outcome, the truth will find a way. And yes, once set loose it is hard to undo.
