Fatwah Against Dogs

Now it’s man’s best friend, his dog, that is being attacked by the Grand Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shiraz, a senior Iranian cleric, and one of Iran’s most influential Ayatollahs. He has deemed that having canines as a pets must end because they are “unclean” and are part of the Western culture. Shariz claims that “Friendship with dogs is a blind imitation of the West…There are lots of people in the West who love their dogs more than their wives and children.” He continues by stating that the Koran does not exactly forbid this practice, but “We have lots of narrations in Islam that say dogs are unclean.” It appears that the Iranian authorities have started to crackdown on dogs in 2007 and have impounded them in a so-called Tehran “prison.” (Link: www.myfoxaustin.com/dpps/news/iranian-commandment-thou-shalt-not-keep-pet-dogs-dpgonc-20100619-jd_8199511)

Since the Islamic republic of Iran ousted the Western-backed Shah in the revolution of 1979, there continues to be conflict over the interpretations of religious rules on personal conduct. One should note here that Ayatollah Shariz was active in pre-revolution days and was thrown into jail many times and even exiled three times. It was after the revolution that he was appointed to the first council of Representatives and played a major role in writing the first constitution. In contrast, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has been accused of being too liberal when he said last week: “that women who fail to completely cover their hair should not be harassed by the police.” But, the morality crackdown is continuing to go on as the senior clerics and hardliner politicians condemn this liberal thinking.

So, dog lovers everywhere, what do you think of the possibility that a ‘fatwah” can be called against your dog? It may not matter to you how Islamic women are treated with absolutely no rights; that homosexuals should be killed; that all Infidels can be lied to, and are worthy of being killed; that defecting from the Islamic religion is punishable by death; that being an alcoholic or gambler is punishable by whipping; or critics of Muhammed and the Koran can be ordered to death; not to mention the offensive, aggressive and unjust ‘jihad’ against Western civilization. However, a fatwah on your dog could make the difference in your waking up to the extreme dangers of Islamic power, with its Sharia law, in America.
