The Bigotry of the Homosexual Agenda Against Traditional America

A small inn in Lyndonville, Vermont, is one of the latest victims of the legalization of gay marriage in many parts of the country. Jim and Mary O’Reilly are the owners of the Wildflower Inn and are currently being sued by a lesbian couple and the American Civil Liberties Union for “violating anti-discrimination statues.” Mr. and Mrs. O’Reilly are, according to the lawsuit, “devout Catholics who believe in the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman.”

Two lesbians from New York, Kate Baker and Ming Linsley, have decided that the strongly held religious views of the couple have no merit and are taking them to court for “discrimination.” At the Wildflower Inn there are no rules against homosexuals being patrons of the establishment, but the owners said “We do not feel that we can offer our personal services wholeheartedly to celebrate the marriage between same-sex couples because it goes against everything that we as Catholics believe in.” Now, for sticking to their their Christian principles, the O’Reilly couple may lose everything they have.

In America today those who stand up for traditional values not only run the risk of being attacked in the courts and in the media, they also risk being physically assaulted. In California prior to the vote on Proposition 8, a senior citizen who was at a rally to support traditional marriage was carrying a large cross instead of a picket sign when homosexual bigots converged on the woman, knocked the cross out of her hands and stomped on it in front of a crowd of cheering “peaceful gay rights activists.”

Even in our churches are not protected from the “tolerance” of the pro-homosexual militants. In Michigan a group called “Bash Back” disrupted church services by pulling fire alarms, yelling at parishioners, and screaming through megaphones “Jesus was a homo” while carrying an upside down pink cross. They stormed the pulpit and began engaging in homosexual behavior in front of the men and women who were attending the worship. On the internet where news stories covering this event were posted, commenters said they not only supported the gays storming churches but called for it to happen even more often. User Dmv216661 said “Right wing scum your time has come! Bash back till I die!” while @SusanMCM stated “F**k off bible belchers you are all going to be gone soon.”

As our culture turns increasingly secular, we see abortions becoming more popular, pornography spreading like wildfire, and now homosexual marriage becoming legalized in many states. Our nation’s founding in Christian traditions and laws is being perverted by the hedonistic “if it feels good, do it” culture that Hollywood, the mass media, and our colleges promote.

Gender barriers that have existed since the dawn of humanity are being distorted, especially at the college level. At Towson University and many other colleges, application forms ask if you are “Male, Female, or Transgender” which legitimizes a deviant behavior as being acceptable and even normal. Elmhurst College is now asking its incoming freshmen “Would you consider yourself to be a member of the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered) community?” This question is being asked to promote “diversity” among the student body.

Universities across the country are no longer having “Gay Pride Day” or even “Gay Pride Week.” They are now spending an entire month promoting a lifestyle that contradicts Western traditions as something to celebrate. Even at so-called “Christian” colleges, the cultural push to legitimize the homosexual movement has led to gay pride events even when the behavior clearly contradicts Christian teachings.

A common part of college life is the yearly production of “The Vagina Monologues,” a play which not only promotes promiscuity but includes several positive descriptions of lesbian sex. “In one scene, a woman describes her seduction by a lesbian woman when she was 16 years old, declaring it her ‘salvation’ and an important coming-of-age experience. The older woman leads the girl into sex by serving her alcohol and abusing her authority as an elder.” It is now normal for schools to put on productions in which the rape of a minor who has been drugged by an adult is considered “art.” The “enlightened” leftists are actually proud to condone homosexual rape because it furthers their agenda.

The threat of multiculturalism is no longer an abstract fear. You can see its effect simply by standing up for traditional values on the college level.  Multiculturalism says that traditional marriage, which has been the cornerstone of Western society for thousands of years, is morally equivalent to promiscuous homosexual relationships. And anyone who believes that the goal of multiculturalism is to promote “equality” is dead wrong. Heterosexuals—especially those who are Christian—face ridicule for even suggesting universities have a “Straight Pride Week” or perhaps “Traditional Values Month.” Instead they are called bigots, hate mongers, and fools for trying to push the balance of college culture towards having both lifestyles being equally represented.

My school, Towson, spends all of April promoting homosexuality and even has a gay “mentor program” to help gays deal with adjusting to the immoral college environment. There is also Rainbow Lounge, a Queer Student Union, off campus opportunities for only LGBT students frequent pro-homosexual speakers, ample resource guides, and even a ‘Bias-Related Incident Report’ you can file if someone hurts your feelings. Curiously, there is no place for conservative students to report those who are assaulting Christianity and traditional values.

There is an obvious bias on campuses in which “tolerance” only extends to those who oppose things Western society has traditionally viewed as normal and proper. It is not hard to notice that the students and professors who promote homosexuality are the same people who promote socialism, atheism, illegal immigration, and a whole host of other ideas that directly attempt to undermine the Western society we live in.

Aristotle famously said, “Apathy and tolerance are the last virtues of a dying society.” As the forces of immorality grow stronger, we must have the same bravery of the clerks in New York who resigned after being told they must allow homosexual marriage in their county and the countless activists who have faced personal attacks in the media and on the streets to stand up for what is right. Homosexual activists screamed at man defending traditional marriage “We keep growing every single year and every single year you [defenders of traditional values] become less and less important.” This cultural slide into decadence can only be stopped when we up against the leftist bigots who hate our way of life, Christianity, and even the natural law of the universe and stop the growing cancer of moral relativism that is plaguing not only America, but the world. As said in the Bible, defending what we know to be correct should not be left up to the elites but to the common man. Acts 4:13: “The members of the council were amazed when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, for they could see that they were ordinary men with no special training in the Scriptures.” We are all called to amaze the world by our boldness.
