Illegal Aliens Withdraw Children From Alabama Public Schools

Illegal aliens are vanishing from Alabama public schools.

Yahoo News is reporting that “scores” of illegal alien families have kept their children home or pulled them out of school this week. Many are reportedly making plans to move to other states. The MSM is lamenting the effectiveness of Alabama’s new immigration law.

There is nothing about the new law that prevents illegal aliens from enrolling their children in Alabama public schools. The new law only compiles statistics on the number of illegal aliens present in school districts in order to calculate their burden to Alabama taxpayers.

The Obama administration has appealed Judge Blackburn’s decision to the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta in order to block the popular reform. The Justice Department has already sued Arizona over SB 1070 in league with Mexico and other foreign countries.

It is more likely that Alabama’s new E-Verify law and the Alabama version of the Arizona’s SB 1070, not to mention the other provisions of this law which were designed to tackle this problem, are what is really driving illegal aliens out of Alabama. The withdrawal of illegal alien students from public schools is just a symptom of the effectiveness of the larger package.

We have already seen hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens leave Arizona which doesn’t check the citizenship status of illegal aliens in Arizona public schools. They are also leaving Georgia which doesn’t have this provision in its new immigration law.

Since 2007, hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens have left Florida, California, and New York because of the terrible economy. Alabama has been one of the hardest hit states in the Sunbelt by the Obama depression.

Whether it is the economy or the new immigration law that is responsible for driving illegal aliens out of Alabama, I don’t see many people around here lamenting their demise.

The only thing more unpopular in Alabama right now than illegal aliens and the SPLC is the Obama administration. Personally, I don’t think it will still be around to litigate state immigration laws in 2013.
