2011 Election Results

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

The Left is already hard at work spinning the loss of Senate President Russell Pearce in the Arizona recall election. David Weigel at Slate has a post up claiming that 2011 is “the weakest off-year election for Republicans since 2007.”

Are we watching the same elections?

- In Iowa, a Democrat won a special election in Democratic-leaning Eastern Iowa to replace another Democrat.

- In Arizona, Russell Pearce lost the recall election to Jerry Lewis because Democrats and Independents were allowed to vote in the election. Next year, Jerry Lewis will have to defend that seat against a Republican electorate in the Republican primary.

- In Virginia, the Republicans knocked off 6 Democrats in the Virginia House including House Minority Leader Ward Armstrong. They won at least one Virginia Senate seat and have probably won the second one where Republican Bryce Reeves leads Democrat Edd Houck by 86 votes with 100 percent of precients reporting.

If Bryce Reeves maintains the lead, the Virginia Senate falls to Republicans. They have already claimed victory in their campaign to take the Virginia Senate.

- In Mississippi, Mississippi voters approved a strong Voter ID law which has been debated for 15 years.

- In Mississippi, Lieutenant Gov. Phil Bryant won the governor’s race. Bryant is a strong supporter of immigration reform. Mississippi Republicans swept the statewide offices.

- At this late hour, there is no word on the results of the Mississippi state legislative elections. If Democrats lose the Mississippi House, Republicans will have control over all three branches of government.

- In Kentucky, Gov. Steve Beshear was reelected as expected.

- In Louisiana, Gov. Bobby Jindal was reelected in a landslide. The Louisiana state elections are scheduled for November 19th. Whatever the result, Republicans will control both chambers of the Louisiana state legislature in 2012.

- In Ohio, the Mainstream Media has hyped the defeat of SB 5, but it has ignored Ohio voters rejecting the individual mandate of Obamacare by a 2 to 1 margin.

The results of the 2011 elections: Russell Pearce (temporarily) loses his Arizona senate seat, Democrats preserve the status quo in Kentucky, West Virginia, and Iowa, Phil Bryant is the new governor of Mississippi, Republicans makes gains in Virginia, Louisiana, and Mississippi, and Mississippi passes a new Voter ID law.

Has the loss of Russell Pearce slowed our momentum?

- No, because Arizona has already passed SB 1070 which will probably go to the Supreme Court in the 2011-2012 session. The RINO who defeated Pearce is unlikely to survive the Republican primary in 2012.

- No, because Virginia, Mississippi, and Louisiana are now far more likely to pass new immigration laws. In 2011, Virginia and Mississippi passed immigration reform only to have it blocked by the Democratic-controlled Mississippi House and Virginia Senate.

- No, because Mississippi has become the latest state to pass a Voter ID law, which is a substantial rather than a symbolic one.

The rejection of individual mandate in Ohio combined with the Democratic losses in Virginia – the two decisive states that will make or break Barack Hussein Obama’s electoral map – is the latest compelling piece of evidence that Barack Obama (and by extension, Eric Holder) will be defeated in 2012.

Tomorrow, Imagine2050 and the Treason Lobby will be high fiving each other over their symbolic victory over Russell Pearce. Come January, they will likely be watching Mississippi follow in the footsteps of Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina.

P.S.  If Virginia Republicans really want to turn out the anti-Obama vote in 2012, they will need to force the Democrats to take a stand on illegal immigration in the Seante.
